Banned

As a parent, it can be hard to stay in all games. Sometimes I have to put my controller down and be AFK in a game so I can take care of my kid. If I quit the game to take care of my kid I’ll get banned. But if I set my controller down or put a band on it so I don’t get booted, I’ll also get banned. That’s just ridiculous.
I also work late nights. Nothing is more satisfying and relaxing than to come home from a long night of work and play Halo. I play all night. Sometimes to the point I fall asleep while playing. I have a wired controller and play while sitting on my bed. During the double XP weekend I played so long that I fell asleep while playing. Twice. And naturally, my controller won’t die because it is wired. So I basically was AFK in games all night while I was asleep. This happened twice. It was not intentional.
This game has all my attention when gaming. Star Wars Battlefront II was my go-to game in recent years after Halo kinda died for me when my clan fell. But after Reach was added to MCC, I immediately played it. I grinded hard the first week. I played slayer, BTB, and some Grifball. But during the double XP weekend, some friends told me about how Halo 2 Anniversary Grifball gives over 32,000 XP if you get lots of medals for performance and teamwork. Naturally, I wanted to play Reach instead because it is my favorite Halo game. But I wanted my armor back so bad that playing a mode that gave a lot of XP made the most sense. I grinded for over 3 days on Halo 2 Grifball. Finally, on Sunday night, I played into Monday morning. I was thinking the double XP weekend could be ending any hour now. I had all my armor back except my shotgun bandolier and gold visor. I was level 80. Bandolier was unlocked at level 81, gold visor was unlocked at 84. So my friend and I decided to play Reach Grifball instead. Halo 2 was becoming too repetitive with constant trading (both players die with swords) and the matches were too long. So we figured if we played Reach we earn our XP faster because Reach Grifball has shorter matches. We indeed were earning it faster now.
In our first we games everything was going as it should in a Grifball game. Spawn trapping, betrayals, bomb hogging, etc. But after awhile we noticed people lining up and killing each other with swords. We thought nothing of it and continued to play. Our teammates betrayed us and enemy players killed us for trying to play correct and plant the bomb. So they got in the group chats and told us to join. So we, being good players ans wanting to help out joined the “Sword Lines,” as people were calling them. After a few games I earned my shotgun bandolier and gold visor. Never did we think we could get in trouble for this. We were just participating with our fellow community members. I got online later in the night after work, on the 16th, only to find I am being banned until January 15th 2020. AN ENTIRE MONTH?!?! This is just crazy!!! This is not justice at all! If anything players doing something they had no idea was wrong should have been given a WARNING from 343 first, not just logging on to find out you’re banned for a month! This is just so ludicrous and ridiculous! I could see a couple hours, a day, or even a week. But a MONTH? I think you need to rethink your strategy on this one, 343. You banned half the community for things the other half was doing, too.

> So we, being good players ans wanting to help out joined the “Sword Lines,” as people were calling them.

You just admiited here that you actively participated in boosting therefore you weren’t playing the game properly and therefore rightly deserve a ban.

> You banned half the community for things the other half was doing, too.

This implies that every player is doing it when in reality they aren’t. I haven’t been banned, neither has my wife, or any of our friends. Many people on here haven’t been either.
