Something I had not seen before.
Someone joined my fireteam while i was in game. I was immediately kicked from the game and banned for quitting too much.
Could this be related to the new matching preferences?

no it sounds like you quit a game or two before that, and the ban finally kicked in, which then threw you into timeout basically. you werent banned for someone joining. there is a few game delay from your last quit to when you get banned.

You wouldn’t get kicked mid game if a ban was being put in place it would take effect after the game is finished.
