I just got a message saying “this account has been banned from using voice for one week”
but yet i was not using a mic while playing. In my opnion this actually ruined my experience at the moment because I was playing bymyself.
3 games into halo4 just now and i get voice banned? seriously? I need a thorough explanation and I know the code of conduct but I would like to know how I was banned for not using a mic. Thank you.
Can I get an explanation for this?
I really have no idea. I don’t even know if you can mute someone who doesn’t have a mic in. I’ve never looked before.
If you are as innocent as you say you are that really sucks and I’m sorry to hear about that.
Sadly, at this time of the day on the weekend you are unlikely to get an answer from someone who has the power to overturn your ban.
I did not know you can actually get banned from voice from a game. Especially when not using a mic. I just started playing halo4 too about 5 days ago because I had been on halo 3 still since.
I have a mic but I usually use party chat but to be honest I havent used a mic on halo4 which I actually threw me off because I planned on speaking with people in case I came across people with mics. smh. Thanks Though. Hopefully someone with Authority can read this soon

hahahahahahahahahahaha what an amazing joke

ok now back on topic
If you are mic banned then it is a high chance that it was either due to
- microsoft being microsoft.
- You had a mic plugged in and it gives off static so you had been reported.
- Could of been another game but got console voice ban for a week.
Either can contact microsoft about the problem or wait the week.
If you got voice banned it was because enough people muted you no matter if you had a mic or not, voice ban is player controlled which means if you get muted enough you get the ban.
OP, here is what happened.
A bunch of -Yoinks!- decided to spam-mute you so the system would auto-ban you from using voice.
343I really needs to remove that ‘feature’ so it stops being abused.

This is exactly it.
Reach implemented a “mute ban”, and Halo 4 kept it. The system was implemented under the assumption that the only reason someone would ever mute other people is if those other people are annoying. That assumption is fundamentally flawed.
That said, as long as we can only navigate the in-game scoreboard with the bloody D-Pad while still having to mute with the lettered buttons, removing the mute ban will be a risky fix. It’s a bad situation all around, really. Between the UI and the bad ban system, we’re less able to mute yet we’re also less able to talk.
My closest conjecture as to why this happened is that you possibly play Throwdown or high CSR team matches and the other team mutes their opponent. It’s been a trend to do that in all the games, which is…terribly ignorant and careless in regards to the repercussions it can have on an innocent person. These people don’t seem to know where the audio options for voice communication reside in the game, or they’re too lazy to change them, so they mute the other players.
It’s lost on me why they even do that in this game, without proximity chat for sneaking enemies to hear your communications…there’s just no reason.
Chalk it up to LIVE’s idiotic player base, OP.
this is far the most idiotic ban in my opinion. Like really? Lol. Theres goes my mic/voice privilegde for the week. smh. And the thing is also Im a competitive player so I callout because Im coming from halo3 and I only played swat. With my Mic in or not in halo4 , I ran 3 games and im voice banned. I dont even talk smack or anything in video games so Its a bit shocking and a bit overboard to even have that type of ban. People would be getting banned left and right for all I know.
People getting banned left and right?
They were.
