I got home today from work and sat down to sign into live in halo reach and I discover a very upsetting message… “this xbox 360 console has been temporarily banned from earning credits”. I contacted xbox support and they stated they have no jurisdiction over bans with halo, only the “ENFORCEMENT TEAM”. There is no contact number or email for them and no way to get ahold of them! I have been a dedicated and very fair matchmaking player ever since Halo 2 first stepped into the world of online gaming. I RARELY quit my games because the rate I play, I often get the 3000 cR slot machine… I don’t betray my teammates, use extreme foul languauge, harrass other players or any other violation of the code of conduct in Halo Reach… So whoever banned me needs to please release it cause I seriously have done nothing to merit a credit ban on my account and its kinda immature given the dedication that I place into matchmaking… I dont mean to sound rude but banning someone for seriously doing nothing but putting hours on end of gameplay is very upsetting and I am trying to complete the current weekly challenge: Multiplicative… Please take this childish ban off my account and allow me to continue supporting one of the best games ever created… I Love Halo, please don’t ruin that for me… I beg you.
Yes I have the same problem, I was in the middle of a Firefight and I had to go do a chore in the house; so I made sure it was ok with my friends (teammates) if they were ok with me leaving for a few minutes. I was gone for about 3-5mins. When I was done with my chore I come back to my xbox and I have a message on my screen saying " This console has been temporarily banned from earning credits". Then another messages says " This account has been banned from earning credits". This is the seconed time this week I’ve been credit banned for absolutely nothing! Like the person above my says its " Childish" ban I agree with you 100% its not right that they ban people like me and the guy above me for nothing, although there are people out there " boosting, reseting daily/weekly challenges 10 or more times a day". So 343 please take this ban off of my account I put so much time into your game and then just to get banned. So please take it off.
SERIOUSLY!!! How does the “BANHAMMER” distinguish AFKing between Advantage gain purposely vs. things like what you mentioned with chores and all? I have a 4 year old boy and we like to play firefight alot as well. If something came up say…he needed to use the restroom real quick, and he could of fell by accident and hurt himself or anything that required minor to major medical attention, you bet your -Yoink- I’m gonna shoot straight off my couch and (YES brace your self 343) run a mad dash past the 360 console and take care of him! You guys saying you would ban me because of an emergency of that magnitude? Thats not afk 343… thats inhuman.
Yea good point! Plus you can’t leave, if you leave you get banned for that to! Is there a way to contact them other than fourms or email? I want to talk to them on phone.
The game can’t tell the difference. Its there to stop actual AFKers ruining the game for others. If you must leave the game, at least quit. At worst you will get a 10 minute ban then. Calling 343 inhuman is also a bit of an exaggeration.
I too got a temp ban due to eating a rather strong curry a few weeks back and I needed to go before a match started, I know I should have dashboarded out, well I realized that afterwards.

Their investigatory methods would be just as limited as the automated banhammer’s. The only information the system ever records is post-game stats, which is why getting zero kills is recognized as AFKing. A human wouldn’t get any further than the machine.
