My 10 year old son played Halo 4 without a live Gold account for almost year now. He got a Gold account a few weeks ago and two days ago he got banned. The ban says that he cannot get any XP’s anymore and he has no idea why. Is there any way we can find out why he is banned? Anything he is doing is unintentional and he would like to know so he knows not to do it again. Also how long is the ban going to be? We can’t find that information anywhere.
I believe the only way you can get an XP ban is by boosting.
Note: Bans usually include information on the ban length, and they also usually include a reason for the ban.
If he got banned 2 days ago and the ban is still there then this is not his first time. also for some information read the Halo 4 Ban Faq-Click Here
Okay, I think I found your problem. I’m pretty sure that the game thinks you’re boosting because in some games your guest did not get any kills. At one point in a Regicide match your son signed in three guests and only used the main account. This is interpreted as boosting. Avoid doing this in the future to avoid getting banned.
Edit: I found multiple games where your son did this in Regicide. It is definitely the cause for the XP ban.

Indeed there are also some games in which the main account did not got any kills at all.
He had his birthday party this weekend where they where 4 playing (him and 3 friends) on his account. Guess you shouldn’t do this? How can I find out how long this ban will last?

Yeah, I noticed those.
Side Note: You got your CMoTW medal now. Congrats!

It depends, first time 24 hours second second time 1 week third time 2 weeks and continues
@Cizlin Thanks.

If his guests weren’t playing, then he will get banned. Normally, these bans last 24 hours. If it’s lasting longer, then your son must have been banned in some manner before.
@ Lord Hookocho: Sure thing. It looks great under your name
Its really pointless, lets say his friends are beginners on this game an never get a kill in three to four matches, like i did on halo reach first time playing online MM, so the one person gets xp banned, quite ridiculous if you ask me, besides the point, xp doesn’t show skill, so you shouldn’t be banned for it.

You should at least get an assist, I would think. All three of his guests didn’t even earn a single POINT.

Anywhere from 24 hours to 1 week I believe is the norm for an XP ban.
I recommend checking out the Ban FAQ at the top of the Halo 4 page for more details.
I will provide a link shortly.
EDIT: Nevermind. I have checked the Ban FAQ thread at the top of the Halo 4 page and it is not useful for the questions you are asking (that have not already been answered.)
They really should have a “How long do bans last” answer up there, but unfortunately they do not.
You’re just going to have to take my word on the ban time for this one.
I am very surprised that all 3 did not get any kills because they all have Halo at home and have played before. They played in the evening and then again the next morning. Guess we won’t be doing that again. Thanks for your help and yes the FAQ pages are pretty useless for this issue and no he had never been banned before. He has only had the Live Gold account for a week now.

This makes me think it wasn’t an accident…You say he wasn’t banned before? He should be able to earn XP by now, then. I haven’t been banned before, so I wouldn’t know, though.
Maybe he got banned on the Friday evening and he didn’t know what it was. It reset at 3am on saturday and then they played again saturday morning and got banned again? Which is why it’s going on for a week now. I really doubt it was intentional. He has been waiting for months to play this game(Halo) and is very happy to have the privilege to do it now. Don’t think he would do anything intentional to loose this privilege. They had another xbox that also had 3 players on it but using a different Live account and they did not get banned. Not sure what they where doing differently. The most inexperienced player of the bunch was on my sons account though.

This is really weird. I know I must be missing something. Maybe a server error? I dunno. Oh well. The only thing you can do is wait it out. Your son should be able to earn XP from the 12th on. Sorry this happened to you. I’m sure it stinks.
“lol no dad is going to type like a ten year old… take the ban and grow up.” what??
He is taking the ban, we are just trying to figure out why it happened so it doesn’t happen again that’s all!! Not asking for it to be removed!!

I understand. I think that others should show a little more respect and not make assumptions before there is proof of them. I am not trying to call anyone out here.
I can imagine that it would be very easy for a first time player to end up with zero kills if they are up against skilled players. Hell I got a zero in team doubles the other day and got absolutely raped by the other team, me and my teammate had 0 kills (we were on same xbox) And the game before that we dominated a different team. I’m no great halo player but definitely not a noob either so 0 kills does not equal boosting. If 0 kills = ban then it should be pretty lenient about the number of 0’s before you get banned.
Also lag plays a big role, when I play on the same xbox with 2 or 3 guests it’s much harder to get kills because the lag is so bad, especially shut out forget about it.
