I’m a bit disappointed today, I received 7 day ban for “manipulating the matchmaking system”. I’ve been playing halo since CE and closely follow the pro seen, but is leaves a sour taste in my mouth.
Due to the competitiveness of this game I have a couple alternate accounts (smurfs) to either warm up on or play with my friends that aren’t as skilled at the game. Today I was playing on an alternate, along with two friends…one was using an alternate and another on his main. The one on his main account isn’t as skilled and when we all want to play together while using our main accounts we lose almost every game because our less skilled friend can’t hang in the competition. I don’t think anyone enjoys losing game after game. To combat this I have a few alternate accounts to create a more social environment and make games more enjoyable for us. It’s not enjoyable for a platinum player to be pulled into oynx/champion level competition, so in order to play with him I use a different name. We played about 10 games today, and then the banhammer hit…for 7 days. Maybe we took it too far since we didn’t lose a game, but we just wanted a more social environment and aren’t cheating in any way. I shouldn’t have to downrank to play with my less skilled friends. No warning or anything, all 3 of us got banned on every account on our xbox’s for 7 days??? No halo for 7 days…are they trying to push away the limited fanbase?
I don’t know what voilation this falls under. Are we not allowed to use a 2nd account? I see pros on them all the time to either warm up or play with their subs…are they getting banned too? All in all i can see that our oppenets aren’t enjoying some of the games, but you’ll always come across a team that steaks you once in awhile. Just seems a bit harsh to me, like at least warn us. I even came across a post http://teambeyond.net/forum/topic/12397-why-i-hate-halo-5/ saying 343 suggested smurf accounts for a social playlist.
Just posting to see what others thoughts are on this, as I know there are many smurf accounts out there.

You answered your own question within your first sentence.
Whether you agree or not, it’s essentially what you are doing.
A lot of game find using alternet accounts a bannable offence. Even if it isn’t well known but maybe it’s more of a guideline than laws to abide.
I was once playing a game and I was farming in game currency through trading and I had 3 accounts; one I kept my earnings, one for selling, and one account for making my purchases I would sell. I was making about £60 worth of Ingame currency a day. When I got banned they would say why at 1st exactly but they gave a vague reason for using multiple accounts. They only banned my selling account for some reason but it was a perm ban.
