Banhammer

Why does 343 carry on with the stupid Banhammer? It was clever in halo 3 where you would lose 1 experience point, but to carry on something from reach of petulant, like a child,
I quit a couple of matches on a Friday and then am still under the same quit ban rules the next Thursday then 343 need to get real.
People quit games regardless, if you get matched with teams of people massively better, you may quit.
The randomness of the ban hammer is stupid. Quit 3 games of multi and get a between 2and a half to 4 and a half minute ban. 6 days later quit 2 games and get an 11 minute 48 second ban.
What is with the random times?
Why not just as halo 3 did and remove experience of say 2000 points!
A new player to halo 5 who can happily quit other bad matches of other games can come to halo 5 and go " well that was a waste of money buying halo 5" after being first time quit banned and so 343 lose players and revenue.
Also, if I get banned for quitting ( and before all the haters say don’t quit) why can 343 have really bad servers that can quit you when they want, which adds to a ban. Also in custom games where jip is available, why a quit ban? If the game includes jip then no quit ban should be present. Just lazy programmers.
Oh and if any moderators block this post for negativity, then you are all just forum trolls!
Good evening.

Halo 3 had a banhammer too, and it worked quite similarly to the current one now.

Removing EXP points does little to nothing. I can make 4000 EXP in under two games.

A new player to Halo 5 should know the rules and know not to quit or he would face a ban. It’s stated on every playlist one tries to enter, and is plastered right on the screen when one tries to quit.

JIP is not the end all situation for quitting. There is no guarantee the game will actually fill up the missing slots, and if it does, there’s no guarantee the players will even stay.

Moderators are most likely going to lock this because we have a ban thread for this.

  • The ban thread linked in my signature is the appropriate place to discuss Halo 5 bans. Feel free to post there if you have questions; though I would suggest being a little more constructive. - The ban system was made and divulged prior to the release of the game. You chose to buy the game knowing that it had a progressive discipline system in place for dealing with misconduct and what was considered misconduct. - There is nothing random about the ways bans are implemented. It’s progressive discipline. Initial bans are short and bans get progressively longer as misconduct continues. - JIP is not a cure for quitting, it’s a poorly applied bandage and there is no logical reason two methods of dealing with the problem of people quitting can’t be used in unison.
