Banhammer After Losing Connection to Server?

I have been playing for the last hour and a half or so. I’m not sure what’s happening, if it’s an issue with my connection or what, but I’ve gotten booted from 3 or 4 games tonight because I keep losing connection to the server. Just for some added salt to the wound, the last time I lost connection here, I got a message saying “The Banhammer Strikes, you have been placed on a cool-down period yadda yadda yadda…” So two things…

  1. What is the most likely cause of this issue that I can look into on my end?

  2. It’s a little ridiculous that I’m getting punished like somebody who is blatantly quitting games. I’m not going to pretend to understand the science behind coding and network stuff and what not, but is there seriously nothing that can be done to differentiate between somebody who quits, and somebody who legitimately loses connection to the server? Maybe nothing can be done about that now with Halo 5, but maybe this could be food for thought with Halo 6?

Hard to say what would be up with your connection since it can be multiple different things like your internet service, maybe the type of connection you have like cheaper wireless connection etc etc…

Other than that, I dont think it can be differentiated in mass numbers that whether someone has pulled the plug or if the connection just cut for a moment. So it is a problem but not much can be done about that since if the punisment would be removed from severed/lost connection while “leave game” option would still include the punishment then it could be just exploited.
Only thing i can think of is to change how the system itself works, so maybe have some form of boosts for those who finish certain number(s) of match(es) instead of putting people on a cooldown. Or maybe something more effective.
