Why does it need an abbreviation?
I’ll probably do something crazy and call it the “Bandit Rifle” or when I’m feeling lazy then just “Bandit.”
Isn’t the Bandit Rifle, just the DMR without a scope? I might as well just continue calling it the DMR…
If I can’t, I don’t give the Commando an abbreviation, so Bandit shouldn’t be so hard
I will call it the BDR though (BanDit Rifle)

BT fits in with other general shorthand we’ve had for other weapons really well, I like it. I also don’t think it overlaps with any legacy abbreviation.
BR, AR, PR, PP, BT, etc.
Fits right in!
While we’re at it, we need Stalker Rifle and Shock Rifle abbreviations.
As for the Bandit, I think “DMR” with quotes around it works. Since it’s a knockoff.

I don’t know, we don’t call the Bulldog the BD, or the commando the C, or the rocket launcher the RL.
These things just come naturally.

TB is also an abbreviation for tuberculosis 
I think everyone still calls the commando the “commando” too, so I’d probably just call it bandit. Don’t know if people call the commando the VK, but if so the bandit is technically also still a DMR.

or… DMR? I’m not really sure why they changed the name, other than bizarrely removing the scope.
I think they removed the scope to make the gameplay more fluent. No one uses scopes anymore I feel except for occasionally on the sniper.

That’s pretty weak. Not everything needs to be so tuned all the time. I love the scope on the DMR.

I think it has a nice little ring to it, no weapon is called that and it’s a sort of abbreviation;
BAndit Rifle.
Rolls of the tongue as well. Doesn’t reference anything else in the game that I know of, and to ruin all the jokes;
Call outs: “I’m going to the BAR”
and in melee when you kill someone “The man walked into a BAR”
edit: Actually reading through the rest of the thread, @NOBLE_SOBEK was first, and only other to suggest BAR.

I’m probably just gonna keep calling it the DMR tbh. Or maybe the BMR. It’s gonna slay out though. Definitely a weapon for anyone who wants a more viable all-rounder in 4v4. And it’ll only be a matter of time before it replaced the BR in ranked/tournament play.

Not true, scope use is quite common on guns that have it.
They removed it to fill a distinct niche. If it had the scope it’d just compete with the Commando and BR in its slot - but it doesn’t. Without the scope and functioning like the Halo 5 pistol, it’s basically the perfect starting weapon, but one you always want an alternative to, just in case.
This is the part where I wish the SHOR was called the Thunder Rifle instead.
