Ban

Why i was banned again, its 3 ban this month, like whyy

You can’t discuss your ban in a forums post, just an FYI.

Stop quitting out of matches they ban for that.

In the last week, you have quit 119 games out of 284.

You need to stop quitting your matches to avoid being banned in the future. This is what the ban message says that you have received.

When you quit you ruin the game for every player on your team.
119 quits in a week… Is a perma ban even possible for quitting?

I know its crazy how sad this company is with the quit penalty on such a broken game. They literally are forcing you to stay in games even with how bad the lag, hit registration, frame drops, input lag and 1 vs 4 ‘party’ matching is. Just save yourself the frustration and join the many who have given up on this company and stopped playing they’re version of what halo was.

That is a remarkably high quit percentage. I do hope you take into account when people quit. For example, there are cases where 3/4 players have already quit, in which case I really don’t blame the fourth guy for quitting out and mercifully (for all involved) ending the game. I almost always stick it out and play out the game even in that situation, but as someone who has been on both sides of that scenario, it sucks for both the full team of four and the lone player who is left. The match almost inevitable drags out the full length, and just isn’t fun for anyone involved.

Forum bans can’t be talked about here, but in-game bans can be discussed

Right now only people with high quit count or high percentage of ‘quits per games played’ are getting hit with bans. Once the new rules go into affect, any quit will end up with a short penalty, lets say 5 minutes. This will raise the awareness of punishment for quits, and we should really see a decrease in the current ‘quitting culture’ that can be observed, as people will have to justify whether quitting is worth sitting on the sideline for 5 minutes. Punishing all quitters a small amount should reduce the cascading effect of people chaining off someone else quitting, and reinforce that quitting is selfish and not ok.

From various conversations Ive had with rampant quitters, it seems that many people want to abandon a game where they feel they have a disadvantage and since there is no punishment to them, they just churn through games regardless of how it impacts others. Another type that has a profile of high quitting are clip montagers, who immediately quit a game after getting a triple kill, or if they get someone on the other team, they quit as their chance of creating a cool video has gone down.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up!

Really, I would have never thought clip montagers would be rapid quitters! I’m glad the rules are getting more strict. Played a game of Halo CE BTB on MCC and the other team only had one guy! Felt bad for him, but at least he stuck through it. It really does take a lot of the enjoyment out of the game, for both the uneven team and the team with more players.

Quitting when you think the teams are unfair is one thing, but did you read this?

There’s no way this is the case, I think I’ve intentionally quit 2 games and the matchmaking connection failed twice…or 3 times before the game actually started. Also, I’ll admit that I betrayed some single berry twice for holding the flag so we couldn’t score and was intentionally holding up the game for no reason. I did score the one time and the second time I was booted immediately from the game immediately. Why wasn’t the player intentionally dragging out the game booted?

I do believe however that the guys I was playing with we’re reported as was I for smack talking and being mean to the other team after the game. I wouldn’t and couldn’t have the room to talk smack because I suck and my k/d openly reflects this. This has never been an issue before and I think the bans are pointless unless you understand exactly why you were banned. Yes, I would love to know how many times XBOX live or matchmaking had taken a huge crap on the time I have seen aside to relax, have fun and unwind. Now I have to deal with politics when I turn on my Xbox?!

While I was banned I decided to try some Halo 5 matchmaking where I was sent an in game message saying, “you suck”.

The kid was totally correct seeing that the controller buttons were set to default and I was punching everything instead or shooting or jumping. Normally, I wouldn’t care and I’d just ignore the comment. However, since I wasn’t sure exactly why I was banned in the first place from MCC, I retaliated out of spite and reported the comment as abusive. So where does that leave the halo community as a whole? Are we really going to be banned for a bit for tat? I’ve seen guys accidently kill overtly excited teammates (and themselves) when a mate of theirs runs in front of a firing rocket launcher or sticky grenade…or trying to maneuver a warthog away from an incoming missile salvo.

I think 343 has caused an unnecessary problem here. They could easily turn down the damage from friendly fire and that would solve a really good portion of the issues.
The second would be to increase time between games or bump you out of matchmaking do you can friend helpful teammates and play later without being thrown into another game you did not intend to play. Oh and I did intentionally quit a 3rd time after I was forced to play sandbox for 10 DAMN GAMES IN A ROW!!! It was cool the first 5 times but after that it just got ridiculous!

Good luck to all who have been banned for unknown reasons, I’ll see you all in matchmaking in 4 weeks…but by that time we all will have started playing other games or converted to ps4…

Where is this posted? Can anyone check to see how many games they have quit?

Do betrayals or anything else add up to being temporarily banned? Does doing good things counteract the banned level?

Ill respond to both of your posts, this one first. Postums will be writing up more detail, but currently the ban system gives you a 10 minute time out from matchmaking for your first quit in 24 hours, then if you quit again in that same period you will get a 60 minute ban from matchmaking. You can still play Campaign and Custom games during that time. If you come back after that 60 minute ban and quit again, at this point in time its 24 hours of ban.

In regards to the post above that currently betrayals have a really large requirement for a ban. Tweaking friendly damage is probably an option, but its a change to how the games were initially implemented. People routinely let us know that whenever we change anything from the original game that we suck. The second thing is about increasing the time between games, Im not sure how many people want this. The PGCR of your last completed game is available in the Find Game lobby, so people don’t have to stay in matchmaking to see it. We had it for several years that people had to recue into matchmaking and they hated it, once again we were told ‘You suck’. Since we added the round to round matchmaking in, we have received a lot less ‘You sucks’ than before, so it has felt right. Maybe with the new ban system, we will need to have a ‘Ready’ cue that you must accept before you go into the next game? Otherwise it kicks you out to the Find Game/Match Composer lobby?

What playlist were you in that you got the same map 10 times in a row?

Redirecting queries about matchmaking bans to the official ban thread, please read over the first post before responding:

Deliberately leaving this one open for now until the above line of questions have been answered.

I have been dropped from the server multiple times and the program thinks I am quitting. I have been banned 24 hours twice in the last 2 days. I am sure there are many more people experiencing this issue.

The server constantly looses connection and then I get banned because it thinks I am quitting games. This happened twice in the last 3 days. Total time banned is 48 hours. I am sure there are others having this same issue since the new update.
