So before this week I didn’t even know there was an automatic ban system. I got banned from earning credits because my guest was a first time player and was unable to get kills (I was told there was no appeal process and all bans are final). I read a bunch of comments by others in my situation on the thread “Why did I get banned?”
My question is this: Why is the system based on number of kills rather than inactivity? It’s unfair that players are penalized for lack of skill. While I can attest to the frustration of playing with lousy teammates, I don’t think they should be blocked for being incompetent. They payed the same amount to play as everyone else.
Because, like many aspects of Reach, Bungie simply half-assed the code/mechanism that is meant to detect an AFK player. Maybe they had some distorted thought process that they were able to use to justify their miserably broken system, but I suppose we’ll never know.
Don’t blame 343 for this; they simply inherited the problem, just as we all did. The good news is, Halo 4 will likely improve this issue, as 343 has proven their competence more than a few times by now.
In the mean time, you can use the custom challenges on this site to bypass your credit ban and continue to earn credits. If you have questions, feel free to post back here. Myself and this community will be glad to help you!
Cheers!
