Not sure why 343 thinks I should be banned for quitting matches that 2 of my teammates have left. There’s gotta be a way to code in some if 2 people quit no ban scenarios. Happened 2 times today and got banned
It really does suck.
There should be a JIP for those who genuinely crashed.
For 3v4 there is so much they could do to even things up - including cycling the 4th player off the bench with each kill so you effectively have 3v3 on the map at any one time. Or at least remove power weapons and equipment so that the bigger team don’t get a bigger advantage.
At the very least have a mercy rule - if you fall ‘x’ points behind then game over.
But don’t quit. You have to person-up and finish the fight. Or at least do what I do - run around the map practicing jumps / slides. Pick up a weapon you wouldn’t usually use and try it out. Make a game out of surviving as long as you can. If you do kill an enemy then t’bag them to show your disdain for their petty aggression.
Just… don’t… quit.
Quit ban should be removed. NGL.
A) This way even if you end up being outnumbered you can quit without a fear of a penalty.
B) People still quit (or DC) out of games anyway, so this ban really has a small effect on matches.
C) Quit ban creates AFK meta, which is far worse then someone quitting.
D) Players can join in mid-game.
There is a system in place if half of your team leaves you can quit I though. You sure no one joined before you quit?
Games would all be desided within a minute when people started droppin out of matches.
You can thank game selfish abandoners for the implementation of quit penalties. All the way back in the days of Halo 2. It because such a large enough problem that quit penalties became a necessary evil.
Nope.
Should be bans. And XP penalties (if we ever get an XP rank).
I think your game completion rate should be shown at the end of your gamertag. Name and shame the quitters. Or at the very least just put a star next to anyone who is >99%.
Match-making should preferentially put all the quitters together. That way they only matches they ruin are each others.
AFK need stronger detection and banning as well.
Games decided within a minute? Really? Are we really pretending that most games in Halo CE (pc) - Halo 3 were not played to completion by both teams.
You’re over exaggerating the complaints about quitters in Halo CE (pc) - Halo 3 as well as the positive impact these bans have had to the games since their implication in Halo Reach. I was on those forums back in the day. There would be maybe 1 thread about quitters every few months.
I already listed a bunch of reasons why the quit ban has failed. This system has not had any noticeable positive impact. People still don’t care and quit. The few people who do care, get screwed by this system when they desync or crash out of the game. Or they AFK with a rubber band to avoid any bans.
This is a better system than the quit ban.
All the time. People would commonly drop the instant the other team looked like they were going to win. Hell, people often left in CTF matches the instant the enemy team even touched the flag.
It ruined the matches for everyone left in the game,
and no, I’m not over exaggerating one bit.
When people stop believing on their fun is the only one that matters in the match, then they can consider removing the leaver penalties. Till them, You, Me, and everyone else is going to have to learn how to deal with it. We’ve been dealing with it since Halo 2 till now, it’s pretty clear it ain’t going anywhere.
Im having issues where i load into a match then it fails to spawn me then kicks me then i get banned. so getting banned to no fault of mine is kinda crap. especially in a social match not even ranked.
JIP is definitely a must, and if the JIP window closes with no rejoin, then the team should be allowed to surrender and take minimal rank loss for ending the match preemptively.
If it happened all the time since Halo 2 you would not have bought Halo 3. You are choosing to remember every 1-in-15 or 1–in-20 game where you had a bad time while ignoring the 14 or 19 games where everyone was having fun from start to finish.
This is just how it was on bungie.net in 2004, - 2010ish. Once in a while someone would make a post about people quitting, you’d check their game history and they would have played 25 games and in only 2 of them someone had quit.
People have all found the way to deal with this by going AFK with a rubber band or script on PC. This is the easiest ban to avoid while having a more negative impact than if we could just quit. The only people this ban effects are the people who lag out or crash out of a game (or the rare team splatterer).
What do you mean dealing with it since Halo 2? The first Halo game to give out quit bans was Reach.
I get the theory here. There is a ban for quitting so people have to stay and play. For you and anyone else who insists that we need this quit ban system, I listed about 4 reasons why this system is out dated and/or has a negative impact in Halo (Infinite), could yall name any substantial positives? Theoretical positives do not count.
because no company has implemented a system to lessen punishments on quitting players if said match is entirely unfair. because they lean too strongly towards the ‘join in progress’ feature, which whiles is nice… halo infinite’s just sucks dog, so it may as well be non existant xD
I play singleplayer a lot in halo so that first point is irrelevant.
I started playing with reliable friends more regularly because of how bad it was in the multiplayer scene.
Afkers I found a solution in MCC. Record video footage of their poor sportsman ship, upload it to youtube, send in support tocket and link to video. I’ve gotten people hit with month+ long bans. Feels good to take out the trash. ![]()
Join in progress is a band-aid fix at best, but it works best in games with larger player counts then it does in small 4vs4 matches. The other fault is that it’s still punishes people as most often players don’t want to fill in on a match that’s already started and is more likely them on the losing team trying to play catch up. This often leads to a revolving door situation having the player in turn decide to nope right on back out of the match. People can fill in once in a while, but the more they do it the less they tolerate it.
And unless it fills the spot instantly, the matches are usually facing a one sided stomp when they do fill the spot.
I was told Halo 4 or 5 actually did temporary disable abandonment penalties briefly for join in progress at one point. But quickly reverted that decision due to massive backlash very quickly.
I never touched 4 or 5 so I wasn’t there. But I’ve been told this was the case from at least 30+ individuals over multiple forums. Gamefaqs, steam discussion, here, ect.
Quitters are very frustrating.
Getting stuck in an one sided match is also very frustrating.
The consensus is that the former is the priority and not the latter, so it’s your duty to find joy in losing or be miserable but keep playing so people can finish a one sided match against you/your team.
You can sometimes win in these situations, but how often does that happen?
And here I thought cancel culture was only on twitter. It’s scary how some people feel like heroes for doing the most nanny state activities.
This is one of those things where I’m not gonna change your mind and you won’t change mine. I’m just gonna let the people who stumble on here and read the comments to make up their own minds.
Honestly I think @Darwi came up with the best solution for quitters and afkers. Maybe someone else could have an outside the box idea that is better than what we have now. Because what happened to the OP is BS, his game was already ruined buy quitters so why should he be expected to pick between staying in a sided match or a ban.
Yet people keep getting mad at me for saying to get rid of the banning sytsem
Tell 343 to fix their awful matchmaking system then. I guess youre totally fine going 0-10 while getting lagged out knowing youve got a very fast internet connection?
Nah dude. You can blame 343 for having the same lame -Yoink!- matchmaking system since halo ce. I could care less if they include the words ‘dedicated servers’. I know its some bs azure hosted cloud server that still uses the same host system from the dawn of time. Ive got a gigabit connection running CAT6 directly to my xbox series X. Im CONSTANTLY getting lagged out by people in other countries with pathetic bandwidth. I know im skilled enough to hold me own and i absolutely refuse to go negative on games predicated solely on network connectivity bandwidth. Or the lack thereof. If i get some bs 200+ms ping you can bet im gonna quit. Every time. Put the blame where its deserved. 343.
I’m sure you do.
I think you misunderstood my comment.
The ban system is flawed. It’s not fun when people quit for either side, but the community expects people to keep playing even if the becomes 4 v 1.
Pooling quitters together is probably the best solution.
I’ve been banned myself for disconnecting.
So you should now only play against quitters, since you quit due to disconnects?
I don’t think that is a good system, especially not as long as the game is running so badly on pc (disconnects, severe lag issues, etc. etc.)
On top of that, it also will create other problems where people might quit on purpose to get into the easier ‘quitter pool’, where the players on everage will be easier and/or you will be fighting bots. It will be much easier to complete the weekly challenges (on top of that lower skilled people who don’t quit would be left with mostly higher skilled players, since most of the actual quitters are mostly lower skilled ones who don’t want to fight against way more skilled players). I think with that you would only get more quitters and less balanced games overall and you will lable legit players that face bugs in the game as quitters, wich will also infuriate players. I think overal it’s just not a good system.
