I am super upset/angry where true halo fans/gamers kind get hold of already very limited xbox series x and halo infinite limited edition consoles. Most of the stock is getting bought by scalpers/bot buyers to re-sale it for more. I know in the UK the lawmakers want to ban scalpers and bot buyers. I am sure microsoft and retailers can do more to stop this nonsense. Bring token system or lottery system and limit one console per household for limited stock of any console.

Best way to deal with scalpers is to have “on-demand” ordering.
Everyone who orders get what they order.
If it’s supposed to be some limited / exclusive item, have a time frame where the order can be done.
I agree there must be a better way of doing it. I really wanted a console, and was watching the reveal live and still had zero chance of getting one. I also bought a Series X already as presumed we might not get one with the console shortage.
When I bought my PS4 I wanted a LE console, the Kingdom Hearts 3 specifically as a huge fan of the series. Sold out straight away and on eBay for twice the price. It’s sad really as I didn’t want it for its potential resale value, I never resell consoles and have my LE Nintendo devices.
The bigger issue is people buying them off scalpers. I get they have the money to do it, but they’re causing the practice to continue being profitable. If resellers got stuck with a load of merchandise they couldn’t shift then we would all be better off.
I agree some way of stopping the Bots & scalpers would surely be helpful like if they implemented any of the below?
>Limiting orders of said limited editions to just 1
>make said person go through a captcha test
>Back order of those interested in obtaining the limited editions.
end of the day I feel for the people who are going to fork out a lot off the scalpers its a shame that there isn’t anything in place that would stop someone reselling something that hasn’t even been released or just set as pre-ordered.
I fully appreciate that in my country the pre-sales will be more physical than online, they are already several months and the pre-sale of halo infinite does not appear yet, but in physical it is already to set aside
I don’t get why people buy from scalpers…
I’ve been waiting to buy a new GPU now for a year and just as long for the Series X
I could’ve bought from a scalper easily but I haven’t. People just need to stop buying from them and the prices will drop.
Retailers need to do more for sure, it is really sad situation across the board. It is a fixable issue but I guess if retailers want to lift and shift latest in demand scarce consoles/gpus/trainers/etc. they will not introduce steps to stop scalpers/bot buying. I am really hoping for the UK lawmakers to be the first to mitigate this. I guess we are experiencing unique situation due to silicon shortage which is another topic for sure.
in store buying/collection
captcha
limiting one console per household if consoles are limited
lottery system
token/queue system
Certain retailers create unnecessary bundles which costs more and this shouldn’t be allowed too.
