Ban removal request

Hi, just wanted to get something clarified.
Currently I’m at a friends house, we were split screening with 4 people, two of us have Xbox live accounts the other two don’t. Naturally the other two played as guests under my gamer tag linus3179. During an infinity big team slayer game, a message popped up saying I was temporarily banned from earning XP. Why did this happen? We were all playing and had been playing multiple games, consisting of Flood, and other big team slayers, and don’t know why I received the ban. After reading through these forums it doesn’t make sense why I got the xp ban. There’s no way I reached a cap. Is it because of the two guests I had? They were our girlfriends and weren’t getting as many kills as we were since it was their first time playing, is it possible that that’s the reason? We weren’t killing each other or doing assassinations. We were all on the same team. There was a period of time that we were having a couple lag spikes during some flood games and only left one of them so we aren’t sure why I’ve been banned. Is it possible since us four we’re playing on a team during flood that if the same gamer tag was killing its guest when one is flood and one is spartan that it would ban for that? Just wanted some clarification as we didn’t think we were doing anything wrong playing 4 player split screen
Thanks so much in advance just want to know what we are doing wrong

I only went thru the first two rounds of matches, but I’m leaning towards the fact that you were AFKing at one point.

The system rarely makes a mistake. But, I’ll find the match, if someone else doesn’t do it first.

OK, so as I thought, your guest was “AFKing”.

Proof 1
Proof 2

0 kills is considered AFKing to the system, if I remember how Reach worked.

Thanks for checking, how are you able to look through? We don’t even think we went AFK but if we can check or see why I would have gotten the Ban that helps. Also, the other guy who was on his xbox live account didnt get the ban, so is it because I had the other two play as guests under my gamer tag?

To be quite honest, I’m shocked your buddy is getting heat from XBOX Operations with that gamertag. But that’s another matter entirely.

Yes. If your friend didn’t get an XP ban, then it’s no other way, it was those two games.

If you go to your stats, under Career, you can view your game history.

I will reply to your post, just figured out how

Okay, so linus3179(2) is TimelyTimmy’s significant other. She’s never played the game, and she is moving around and doing stuff if you watch the replays. How can they XP ban me for someone who is learning the game? Especially if it’s in flood, and that requires some skill to get kills against other players

I mean, how is this encouraging someone new to play? She feels bad that because she couldn’t get kills that that would be the reason I got banned. Can I get the ban lifted if that’s the reason or would they even consider giving me the xp that I would have earned in the games we played after?

Probably not.

The system is designed to catch boosters. Is it a tragedy that some innocents have to suffer? Yes. But, a few bad apples ruin it for everyone else. That’s how a community works.

Sorry she feels bad. But, that’s the way it is sadly.

Wow, that’s really a bummer to hear.

I mean, I understand them wanting to catch people who cheat but the game should be able to recognize activity from someone who is literally just standing there and not doing anything. I shouldn’t be xp banned from something like that. That can really affect someone’s self esteem and that frankly is two people who might not play Halo ever again because of that. It’s just disappointing.

Well, thank you RurouniDante for taking the time to help us understand what happened, I appreciate your help.

Wait, it can affect THEIR self esteem or yours? I’m trying to see how an XP ban on your account can affect their self esteem, other than you yelling at them for it.

I’m not trying to be rude or anything, I’m just being realistic here.

Hers. I am irritated that I have the ban, but it is a video game. She feels she shouldn’t even play to prevent future bans from occurring. She feels that just being a girl and not having the abilities to successfully play a video game shouldn’t cause an issue with someone else’s account. That’s the whole point of a guest account for multiplayer online isnt it? To be able to play a game with friends and have fun and not cause an inconvenience to others?

Stopped reading there.

Happy to help mate. Sad she feels bad. But neither you nor her should sweat it. Just have fun. XP shouldn’t matter. Don’t get clogged up by it.

My wife and I play in the same Xbox account, and she was posting earlier with these concerns about the xp ban our account received earlier today. If you actually look at the activity of my guest player during the games with 0 kills, you will see that she was actually playing the game and not trying to boost other players in any way.

I understand the need for an automated system to track for boosting and not following the rules. This was not a case of breaking the rules. She was a new player and struggling with a new game. You can be all hardcore about it, stop reading and poking fun…but it’s a legit complaint.

Thanks for your feedback on this, and I would like to hear from a moderator about getting the ban lifted and xp restored for the following games without a guest on the account.
