Why do people get banned for quitting social gametypes? Banning should only apply to ranked game modes. New players can join in progress social games after all.
So??? It’s not like you are replaced immediately when you quit or if at all… you leave your team at a disadvantage so it’s only fair that you will get a “disadvantage” when you try to enter more games as a constant quitter. It’s not hard to finish games you start.
No, people still try to win social gametypes but when you quit they’re a man down until JIP replaces you which can sometimes take a while. This is particularly noticeable in Grifball where it’s a big disadvantage.
If you don’t want to get banned, don’t quit. It’s as simple as that.
A quit is a quit. WZ quitters deserve bans as well.

Join in progress is not an excuse to quit. There is no guarantee that you will be replaced at all, much less quickly. Even if you are replaced it could be someone far worse than you. Even if you are replaced quickly, let say 3 minutes. That three minutes could throw the entire game. You quit, you have an effect on everyone playing, whether it’s action sack or mlg.

Respectfully disagree. When I have half a team and am getting farmed at home base I’m gonna -Yoinking!- quit.
I think they’ve gone too far with the bans. Ranked arena should have strict bans. People are serious about winning in ranked. Warzone, BTB, Grif, Infection, whatever this race mode we might get, Firefight, those are all goof off modes. There should be no quit penalties. You know what people do when they get banned? They play something else.

Lol, There is truth in that statement. It is an internet forum though, take out the whining and complaining and it’s just a blank page.

Didn’t say they weren’t entitled to do so in the correct thread, just saying it happens.

Technically, they’re supposed to be ‘social’, but there are plenty of people that take them seriously including myself with BTB. I wish it was still ranked, but obviously too many people complained about quitters.
Their ban system does need some work though.
I think there should be more heavy bans for people who quit. Why the -Yoink- should you go unpunished for ruining other peoples games by quitting them. If anything you quitting is making it even less fun for the team mates you left. More strict ban hammer 343 please because i’m sick of quitters

This. If i get into a match where im getting the -Yoink- beat out of me i still stay and try to have a little fun with it.
Fun fact, none of the playlists say they are social anymore.

Social, unranked, non-competitive in the sense the game doesn’t make an attempt to provide a level playing field, take your pick… It boils down to semantics. Social is an improper descriptor for those game modes anyway. Just as “utility weapon” is typically used in a poor context. Yet here we are…
If a game mode fits this profile there doesn’t need to be a punishment for leaving. It only serves to make the atmosphere competitive where it shouldn’t be. So Bulls makes a valid point.
Fun fact, tying numerous gamer tags to one account lets you circumvent the ban system for the most part anyway.

I fail to see how not being able to quit makes things “More competitive.”
Uh, no. Quitting should be discouraged, which means that people who constantly quit should be penalized.
However, quitting social matches should not be as consequential as quitting ranked matches; the banhammer should be more lenient if it’s a social playlist in question.
I disagree BTB has become my favorite playlist and I don’t want lose cause I had ppl quit in a crucial moment of the game. Because 1 guy can make the difference. It doesn’t matter it has JIP at all

I typically agree with your posts good sir, but I definitely do not his this particular case.
As an example, there are many players who enter Warzone and BTB matches with a very competitive mindset. On the other end of the spectrum, there are far too many players who will quit in the middle of a match if they think their opponent’s lead is insurmountable, even with a quitting penalty in place. If you remove that penalty, the number of quitters will increase dramatically and the join-in-progress system won’t be able to replace them fast enough. The competitive balance of that match will be ruined.

That is probably a good thing. If a player consistently quits in the middle of a Halo 5 match, they probably need a reality check regarding the most remedial responsibilities of playing online matchmaking.
As I have said many times before, I have completed almost 2000 matching games since Halo 5 launched and I have yet to encounter a compelling reason to quit in the middle of a game. It’s no small coincidence that I have never been banned, either.
