we need more frequent bans so i can see all the squeakers rage on here and say they did nothing wrong with there 50 DNF’s what do you guys think?
The banhammer is where it needs to be. We just need more incentive for people to stay rather than just punishing leaving. Someone mentioned earlier that free silver packs for not quitting a game in a day where you play x games could be a good idea.
The banhammer is fine, kind of. It’s great that it targets people who are “cheating or “griefing”,” i.e. quitting, AFK, team killing, repeated suicide, ect. Yet it has some major “flaws”. I will say its great in detecting and punishing people who do take part in team killing, repeated suicide, and “other unsociable and unsportsmanlike behavior.” I will say however when it comes to quitting it performs poorly and the system you want may already be in affect. Let me explain, to my knowledge(somebody prove me wrong) the way the banhammer works is the more times you commit an offense, in our case quitting, the more likely you are to be banned and for longer period of times and the more often you commit said offenses the less offenses you will be allowed to make(i.e. somebody can’t quit 7 matches before they are banned, they can only quit 5). Basically it snowballs(to my knowledge). It’s great for targeting those who do want to mess with people’s multiplayer experience, but for quitting it seems a little harsh. Take me for an example, out of the 17 matches I played today, I quit three and was banned for an hour and a half. One DNF was in the morning and two in the evening(in my defense the last one I had realised my Xbox was on while I wasn’t playing, please forgive me teammates who I let down). So to my knowledge(and please please please prove me wrong)there isn’t a “reset” time(i.e. every day/week/month your [minor] offenses are forgotten/forgiven) so your offenses don’t snowball on top of you. This means players who have bad internet or don’t want to be put in a hopeless, boring game and quit will be banned and sometimes quite often. If all of what I said is truly the case, then the punishment is too harsh. Being forced to play a hopeless, boring game isn’t great and penalizing those who have bad internet doesn’t look good either and lets not forget that leaving hurts you CSR quite a bit. So I all of what I said propose a system with a reset period, say every 2-5 days, and reward those who stay in matches like in Halo Reach where you could get jackpots. That new banhammer system will discourage players to leave, fairly penalize those who leave, and rewards those who stay.
In conclusion, if what I said is true, then the system might want to be looked over but all in all I am a huge fan of the banhammer system even if I am a victim to it.
The Banhammer is wonderful.
