Ban for leaving too many games?

Seriously? A ban for quitting a game? I’m sorry that me having to care for my 2 month old son is too much to ask for. I guess from now on I’ll just stick around and give the opposing team free kills and drop my k/d by going afk instead of quitting the match. That seems totally less unsportsmanlike than quitting.

You’ll get booted from the game for being AFK too long as well. Your K/D won’t suffer too much. So you’ll still be able to care for your child without worrying about the game.

I just figured that leaving so I don’t drag a team down was more the right thing to do rather than staying. I mean it was only a 10 minute ban but it’s still stupid non-the-less, my k/d isn’t really that impressive to begin with, but I’m sure some people wouldnt want to take an unnessecary L

You’ll just be kicked for being AFK and be banned that way.

The fact that you were banned for it means this wasn’t a first time occurrence. Such as quitting 2 of your 6 games today with a history of quitting in the past.

And more importantly, how is the game supposed to know you have something important to take care of? For all we know, the kid doesn’t exist and you’re lying.

Finally, we have a ban thread for this.

Guilty till proven innocent.

I mean if you really looked into it that hard you’d notice I’m a level sr4, meaning I’ve probably played less than 10 games total, which is completely correct, I’m not even ranked in ranked matchmaking yet, and what would I have to gain from lying? Even if it is 2 games, rather than one, dropping the banhammer is a tad harsh.

edit: said level 6 actually level sr4

I don’t see the issue. I understand when real life calls, it takes priority. The banhammer is far from perfect but it’s definitely better than having nothing in place to prevent AFK/quitting. Sorry it happened to you, but if your teammates are decent people they would understand.

Congratulations on the son, by the way.

It’s not really a ban, it’s more of a matchmaking cooldown to prevent people from joining and quitting games whenever they feel like it. When you start playing more and get into higher ranks, if you are a teammate down, it’s pretty much a guaranteed loss in certain playlists. It at least slightly encourages people to stay in the game.

Thanks to all.

At the same time, think from the computer’s perspective.

You’ve played 6 games today, you DNF’d from 2 of them. That’s a 33% drop rate, or you dropping from 1 out of every 3 games. That’s pretty egregious. You’ve also played 15 games total. You’ve DNF’d from 6 of them. That’s a 40% drop rate, which is even worse. If the banhammer went on percentages, chances are you were over the line already.

It sucks to be in that situation, but you can’t really blame the game for doing its job when you have a bad connection.

There really is no “innocent” when it comes to quitting matches. By queuing into the match you are accepting the fact that you will need to dedicate 10 or so minutes (depending on the playlist) to the match. It’s not fair to leave your teammates behind. That being said I understand sometimes things come up, but you really have to quit a lot of matches to get banned. Halo 5’s system is actually incredibly lenient. I’m sorry OP, but if you are going to need to quit this often you probably just shouldn’t play until you are free.

In the future, any and all ban-related questions/discussions go here.
