I just got the game and went into matchmaking.
After about 4 or 5 games it started taking forever to find a game.
So i had to go to the bathroom and when i got back like 2 minutes later there was a red screen on my Xbox saying
“Ban Hammer has spoken. You were banned for joining a game and idling”
I just had to go to the bathroom. And now i can’t even play halo online and i just spent $80 on a game i can’t even play.
Not to mention that me and my dad have always enjoyed playing halo together on the same screen,
but now i can’t even play online. I am sorry for idling and will not do it again.
Please lift the ban so i can finally play halo 5 with my friends.
I hear you. I can’t do jack to help you though. I got banned for three days for losing to the server. The banhammer is particularly nasty in this game, sadly.
Interesting that you got banned for a single DNF, but regardless, don’t idle, don’t quit, and you won’t be banned.
Either way, the punishment for a single infraction surely isn’t more than 5-10 minutes – just wait it out and get back to gaming.
It is important in Halo 5 to finish your multiplayer games, bans generally only happen after multiple offenses and your stats appear to suggest that you’ve failed to finish a number of games in addition to idling out. Never quit a game, even if you are losing badly. Just grit your teeth and play through. Quitting makes the experience less fun for everyone

Good lord – I’ve never seen so many DNFs. If you’re having that much trouble connecting to the server, maybe you should troubleshoot your Xbone, restart your router, hook up on a hardline, hard reset, or simply don’t play the game at that time and try to wait out the issue?
I was playing, and got the victory screen, and then lost connection, and got banned. And since it was frozen on lost connection, I was spamming A. So now I don’t even know why I was banned. And the messed up thing is I didn’t even do anything wrong. Anyways is there a way to check what you were banned for??
Please don’t revive old threads thanks
