I had AFK’ers in my last 5 quick play matches. I don’t just mean someone who had to go afk briefly, I’m talking about people not playing the entire match. Sometimes running in circles (I would assume with rubber bands on their analog sticks).
It’s ridiculous and they know they can get away with it because there’s no real way to report them in game beyond digging through menus and reporting them via Xbox Live on the Gamercard (which does nothing of real consequence).
Yes, in ranked you get a quitban every time you quit (or if the game crashes). In socials you need a couple of games in a row you have to quit. How many is unclear for me, since some say they got it after 3 quits in a row and others after 10 quits in a row.
343 could improve their AFK detection. Bungie’s AFK detection in both Destiny games is extremely persistent and can pick up on repetitive inputs, like if a player has a rubber band wrapped around their thumbsticks.
That would be ideal. Also, if they fail to get any kills, they should also have their XP taken away. Come on, I always considered myself trash at multiplayer, but even I can manage between 5 and 15 kills…
I disagree on that. Yesterday i had a match where a teammate of me ended with 0 kills, but he was trying. It was a ranked strongholds match and we loaded in 3-4 (so we already had a player less). He actually captured about 6 zones i think, but he went 0-11 in k/d. He was a bronze-1, so his rank was already the lowest possible, but it is possible to not get a single kill while trying to play. I don’t think he should have been penalized for just being outclased by everybody.
I was talking about Slayer. For objective modes, it might be different. Your teammate captured 6 zones and contributed to the team efforts. So no, he should not be penalized.
Even if it was slayer he shouldn’t be penalized. Would be ridiculous if the game loads you in with a player less and with all players that are way more skilled then you and then get penalized for not being able to get a kill? That just seems wrong to me.
It is infuriating for the other players, but that is simply a fault of the game, not that one player. He can’t help it he’s not that good.
I think you should always look if he tried to play. Even then: if you make a system where you need 1 kill to get around sanctions, griefers and AFK players will just get 1 kill and then either keep giving kills away or go AFK after that. So such a system won’t work and only punishes the players (even if it is only a small number) who are just way outclassed but trying.
Ok, you have a fair point. Still, I want to see stuff taken away from AFK players in some way. I really do not understand these people to be honest. They go AFK, to unlock stuff for a game they are not even playing… makes no sense.
They could already be banned for the rest of the season of they do that, if people report them.
I think the bigger problem is just that the reporting system is to difficult:
you need to go to waypoint to report them (most people don’t even know that)
you need to find the link to report a player (which is a bit hidden if you ask me)
you need to sent in evidence of that behaviour, but the clip can’t be too big (and just a couple of seconds is already to big, so showing he was AFK for a long while is already annoying since you have to make a lot of clips…)
And after you did that, it still takes 343 about 2-3 months before they take action on your ticket. By that time a big part of the season is already over and they probably already finished there season pass to begin with…
That just needs to change (not that the ingame report system in MCC was good, since i doubt they even did something with those reports… I reported a lot of griefers/teamkillers/etc., but never saw them being banned at all)
Another problem is that there is no theatre clip when you quit a match (because if i see someone cheating, i’m not gonna stay in that match, but you still want to be able to make a clip and report a cheater).
343 should just make an ingame report system, that is linked to the match clip. And they should make an ingame ‘mail’ system where you can see your report, what the status is and where 343 can sent a reaction to your submitted report, so you know they responded to it and what action they have taken.
