balanced? how is this balanced?

so when i join a game i have to play against people with AA’s and weapons that i haven’t unlocked yet because i have a job and can’t play all day? really? i can’t start with a br until i unlock it? when i’ll be playing against others that have it? what happened to fair starts? you know…the thing that made halo halo.

This is assuming you won’t be matched up with people around your level…

Just unlock them. Saves us a few seconds of reading this miserable thread.

I would like people to actually wait until we can see official gameplay trailers and what-not before complaining. I would also like it if they actually play the game before complaining, but a lot of gamers today feel so self-entitled to their games.

Not to mention you have no idea how the weapons work compared to each other yet. If you’re just starting, you’ll probably play against players with low ranks and the same weapons as you. As long as the ranks match up players correctly, it will be balanced.

someone completely missed the point.

yes if we are matched up correctly it will be ok. if.

Please elaborate.

That, so much of that

Is this under the assumption that you will be matched against people who have put more time into the game? It’s a sound concern, no one wants to be matched up against someone who has more stuff.

We have no clue at this point what 343 will do with MM. Let’s pray it actually matters and searches based on skill (unlike Reach).

If it ends up being similar to Reach, your fears are justified. Of course it’s all speculation. It needs to work, be visible to the players and it needs to matter.

i asked for fair starts. you’d think i asked for a million dollars.

You will probably get the DMR at the start and/or can pick up a BR from the map or from a dead enemy/teammate. DMR will do fine if you use it right; you’ll have your fair start.

This is, of course, assuming quite a few things:

  1. Your default loadout settings are very, very limited.
  2. You earn no Spartan Points via Campaign, or at least not enough to unlock even the most basic equipment.

It’s safe to assume that 343i will be including at least one of each weapon type by default…
By type, I mean category… like the BR, Carbine and DMR would all be lumped into one category. Possibly the magnum as well, if it’s got some ‘umf’ to it. Assault Rifle, SMG, and Plasma Rifle might fall into another.

Even if not… if it matters THAT much to you, jump into the SWAT or Snipers playlist - something with a fixed loadout, and play that until you have enough Spartan Points to purchase a BR for standard playlists like Slayer and Doubles.

Also, you’re clearly forgetting the fact that there are regular weapons on the map - not just power weapons.
Feel free to pick up a BR or DMR or whatever else your heart desires upon spawn. Or go looting bodies.

This is a good point, that I don’t think many have thought about yet.

But, according to Call of Duty’s system, which seems to resemble this game more and more, there won’t be any system in which you will get matched up against the same “Progression Rank.” This was also the same thing in Halo Reach. Inheritors vs. Warrant Officers makes no sense, even if the rank =/= skill.

No you don’t actually. You can play spartan ops to unlock these things and they carry over into competitive multiplayer. And if they are balanced for once than it shouldn’t matter anyways.

ok i’ll loot bodies while people that played longer can start with the weapon every spawn. sounds like even starts. yeah thats sarcasm. what the heck how many cod players are here tonight.

> ok i’ll loot bodies while people that played longer can start with the weapon every spawn. sounds like even starts. yeah thats sarcasm. what the heck how many cod players are here tonight.

If you are that worried about it, you can play Spartan OPs until you get enough points to buy the weapons you want without having to get raped just to catch up. You earn points in Spartan OPs and it’s not separate. Whatever you earn in one mode can be used in the other.

Or simple terms: IT CARRIES OVER.

That’s including armor, points, weapons etc.

> ok i’ll loot bodies while people that played longer can start with the weapon every spawn. sounds like even starts. yeah thats sarcasm. what the heck how many cod players are here tonight.

It’s even and balanced because the weapons you start with, before you unlock anything, can be successful and kill people using the other loadout/off-spawn weapons. That’s what “balance” means…one thing isn’t superior to all others. You just need to use your weapon correctly.

This is assuming we are all assuming the same assumption in which assuming that the assumed game play is not made up of fan assumptions and non assumable and irrational assumptions unless they are in fact not assumptions and are the exact opposite of assumable assumptions which would be a fact.

Seriously, whats with all of the posts starting out with “This is assuming…”

I am sure that 343 has devised a new way of keeping order and balance, and although it may not seem like that, we just have to way and see.

343 has stated that every AA has their strengths and weaknesses. Nobody will be able to choose power weapons to start with and we are not aware of how the current set of weapons play against each other. If i had to guess how it will work I feel that the higher level players will be able to use guns that are harder to use but yield better results if used properly (BR)(Plasma Rifle) (Assault Carbine??) while the people who start will use less skillful weapons that are more consistent and are easier to use and kill people with, but require slightly more time to work (DMR) (Assault Rifle) etc…

what i’m really curious about is how grenades will play out in this situation. Will higher level players be allowed to start with stickies or whatever the other two grenades are while lower levels are forced to use frags?
