The moment I heard those words balance and movement in the Infection gameplay preview, I cringed. I heard them before when 343 described Halo 4 Flood and it took the most popular gametype and turned it into the least. I foolishly thought that they would have learned from that catastrophe, but apparently I was wrong.
Infection is not meant to be balanced, it at its very essence is meant to be wildly imbalanced. Imbalance is quite literally the very thing that creates the slowly building overwhelming horde that comes for the last man standing. Movement was never needed for the game type to be fun. In fact some of the best parts of the game involved digging in or charging dug in players. Its as if 343 is unwilling to accept that there were some things in Halo that were not broken before they took over. They were handed a home run fan favorite and have proceeded to pick it apart until it is just a warped image of what was.
I held a small bit of hope for Infection as it was grouped with the memories of Reach update, but that hope is fading. I will of course give it a try, but I fear the Infection I knew and loved only exist in a bygone era.
What a shame.
At least you are willing to give it a try. You might end up liking it.

I doubt it, but its better than no Infection.
Wildly unbalanced = no fun

Reach’s Infection was wildly unbalanced and wildly popular.
Someone was having fun, apparently a lot of someones. If Im not mistaken there are more people playing Reach’s Infection than Halo 4’s “balanced” Flood.

Reach’s infection was popular because of custom games. Anyone could play any way they wanted. Lets hope the custom game options are as good.
Stop complaining you babies. Everyday I swear.
I always get nervous when 343 uses the word balance and movement in any game mode now! lol.

This.
Not every gametype is created equal. Braaaaains is more fun than Save the Last Shot. Alpha Zombies gives an edge for the alphas. Creeping death is the most advantageos for the infencted.
Only H4’s Flood offered a limited way to play the gametype. With all the options given, it’s just unfounded fear to wonder the negative stuff, just yet.
And as someone that has played a LOT of Flood, Infected, etc, since H3, I can say that I was exploiting the heck out of the imbalances. If I was a weak survivor gametype, I would hide. If I was a weak infected gametype, I would hide. If I was on the strong end of the gametype, I would more than often not, get top 3

Reach’s Infection playlist boasted one of the highest, if not the highest multi-player population counts for the majority of Reach’s prime.
Its as if 343 owned a restaurant, had a hugely popular menu item and declared, “We dont serve that anymore, because what you really want is the healthy version of that!”.
There is literally no other parallel I can think of in any other business I have ever seen.
