Bad rap

Do you think Halo 4 has been shot down more than it actually deserves.
Word of mouth can really change a persons perspective on what is good and bad and Halo 4 maybe just has been giving a bad reputation of being not good and people just fall prey to the opinion of others.

No, I don’t. Halo 4 deserves the negative reaction it’s been getting.

I feel it does deserve to be trash talked

I love halo but I also hold dear something that has been lost (in american culture anyway) and it is loyalty and both bungie and 343 betrayed me, and have no alliance to either. bungie took the money and ran and left the idiots at 343 to build on something that did not need much tinkering.
when things change hands you never get the product back 100% pure it is always cut and 343 cut the crap out of this batch

It’s definitely got more negativity than it deserves. Yes, there are things to fix, but it’s still a good and very playable game.

Halo 4 really has been hit too hard. I thouroughly enjoyed it just like any other Halo, but there were some obvious flaws (just like any other game). Honestly, people just criticize the ENTIRE game too harshly because of one element they don’t like, such as loadouts or weapon balance, when there are other areas that are great.

P.S. You guys made Frankie sad

The games leading up to Halo 4 were the culmination of years of trial and error between Bungie and the fans. Halo3 was a well received game. Halo Reach was also a success, though it made some blunders.

343i takes control of the Halo series.

What’s the next best step?

Personally, if it was my first game, I would take the conservative route:

  • include the successful aspects of previous games
  • remove unsuccessful aspects of previous games
  • add new features in a way that doesn’t interfere with successful aspects of the game

Pretty simple. In fact, this is common sense.

first 2 are simple im blaming planning and communication on things being missing. the third would probably be the hardest especailly for a developer thats takeing over a huge series like Halo. Even when ive asked everyone about how they would do number 3 they didnt even have an idea o what they would do or could do. Its simple to say but to do :\ IDK 343 isimproveing and while i do belive Halo 4 and 343 does deserve some of the critizism its getting people have been going over the top. Just recently i joined a friendwho had an entire team for big team. The first game was laggy as hell and we left, second game was just a normal game but because everyone was justjokeing around we lost even though were were keepng up with them all they did was -Yoink- abou the game. I just set there thinking so the game sucks because we decided not to use the tank, gauss hog, banshe, and warthog in our possession to attck the place that the other team was camping in? They raged and then said there quitting halo even though i managed to go 21-17 and the guy who invited me went like 21-3 and them going was negative also big reminder they said that they really havent been playing for a good 2-3 months. The next game after they left the remainding players and I had a grea game where we dominated with vehicle combat. Really idk its like most people that rage on here go like i hvent played this game in a month i came back and its bad because i went mega negativ and the other team did thisad that and im like WTF would you expect afer not playing something and then coming back a month after? did you expect to e a pro or something ?

Planning and communication have a lot to do with it.

I agree, #3 is tough. However, most of 343i’s success was in this category.
Dominion, Incineration cannon, pulse grenades and many others fall into this category. Loadouts and ordinance are interesting, but it would be nice if players who dont want to use these features had more options.

Hmmmm, lets see.

Praise, awards and acclaim from basically everyone in the gaming community.

vs.

Mostly blind hate from some nerds on waypoint who think their petty complaints makeup the majority.

Naw, I think it’s about right.

^This.
“If you don’t like multiplayer, blindly flame the campaign.” -The mind of a Halo 4 flamer

I think the complete randomness really turned a lot of people off to Halo 4. Now that we are finally getting some consistency to playlist I see Halo 4 becoming what it should have been to begin with.

Put yourself in a non-American’s shoes. This is the first Halo since Halo 2 without a good connection search option. This is critical to non-Americans. In Reach I could play all night and get smooth matches with very low latency. In Halo 4 we have teleporting players, it takes an extra few bullets to kill someone, grenades take a full second to appear when thrown and you can play 5 games in a row on overseas host.

None of my Aussie friends, people who’ve been playing Halo for 10 years, have given up after a few months. Imagine what it’s like when your favourite franchise that’s you’ve spent 100s of hours and 1000s of dollars on is suddenly unplayable.

Agreed, Artiste. I’m Kiwi and have the same problem.

The other thing is that this game just doesn’t compare to H1 - 3. The same love and quality was not put into this game.

It’s just more restrictive, less interesting and innovative… it just doesn’t compare and for that I think it deserves the criticism it gets. I went and played some MW3 today and it’s so much smoother and so well put together. I played maybe 15 games lag free.

I don’t even like that series, really, but H4 missed the mark by quite a bit. I hope they’re putting some serious effort into H5 and that they understand what’s wrong with H4, but we’ll see on that one.

why do people think Reach is bad? i loved it sooo much but it broke and i cant play it anymore.
