I’m trying to complete my qualifying matches for free-for-all, but the game keeps placing me up against high level onyx/champions. I’m diamond at best. I am losing nearly every game here. What is up with this?

The matchmaking isn’t normally this bad. I am posting here to find out if anyone else is having a similar experience, if they changed the way matchmaking works, or what. Thank you for your input.
the matchmaking has always been horrible since 343 took over. With the removal of the ranking system bungie used it has become garbage 90% of the time
I’ve given up on trying to figure it out. I’m naturally a high diamond low onyx FFA player. I play against champs and low platinum. There’s no scenario where a guy should be able to play in a range that covers 2/3 of the skill chart, it just doesn’t make sense.

Its either a system that literally matches regardless of rank or there are so few people playing halo 5 that theres none else to match against

Played a Swat match yesterday, my team was composed by me (Gold 2), another guy (Gold 1) and three people unranked against 3 platinums, one gold and a Onyx. Fairly balanced…

It’s both. Contrary to what 343 says, I find it hard to believe player population of a video game continues to grow many months after launch. You have to assume that the job of the rank system is to spread the entire population on an even bell curve of skill. When it’s time to match them up for games it’s a lot easier to get even matches for an eight man Arena game from a pool of 16,000 than from a pool of 16. Of course it’s not that drastic, yet. But it’s getting to the point where players will have to be matched regardless of rank just to populate a lobby.

It seems it has been getting worse. At least from what I have been experiencing… But I feel that the population has dropped off a bit. I have only one friend left playing the game. At one time I had 16. So I can only come to the conclusion that population factor is causing some of this. Im sure this will continue to get worse as other games come out. H5 is almost a year old now. I guess off with the old on with the new…

I’ve been dealing with this for months. In slayer I understand since I’m onyx every season, but even if I’m ranked diamond I play against full teams of champions every day, especially in arena and swat. In arena I average probably one pro team every two days as a diamond playing by myself
To me, the problem is the drastic flux in skill in matchmaking. i honestly would prefer to find teams of high skill cause they force me to play better but 90% of the time i lose against weaker matches cause i get paired with someone who goes 4/16
They’ve loosened the rank restriction in matchmaking because of population drop.
Yeah dont fix the problem fix a symptom
Every match I play I just hear Japanese or god knows what players on the mic. I’m from UK. The connection just sucks on this game. I get like three hit markers with a grenade and don’t get kills. Drop whole magnum clips in people and they still walk away.
