this is constantly happening, either the game will not load after the countdown and the other team takes a very quick lead, or suddenly before scoring an objective the game lags our or we take the lead constantly getting black starting game screen. its not just me but my friends i play with too, almost every single game i have played this week has done this and it sucks. while on the black screen the other team is able to play just fine and either will easily take the lead or objective without any objection at all, its unfair and is ruining this game. please either fix the lag issue or stop the people who are causing it during the game.
I am having very few issues with lag when I play (maybe some minor movement issue that clear up pretty quickly). This sounds like either a connection issue on your end, or you are unlucky enough to be matched with hosts who have bad connections to the matchmaking server.
i can assure you its not on my end, every single other game i play on xboxlive works perfectly fine, i have a 50mb down and 3 up connection, black ops works perfectly, minecraft works perfectly, and literally every single other game i own and play with other people works perfectly. this game is broken and desperately needs to be fixed.
I notice it a lot too. Some maps seem to be worse than others, namely forge maps and Complex. Unfortunately, it has impacted the outcomes of a lot of games. I’ll be sitting there with a black screen while hearing the other team shooting and watching their scores increase. Oh well, bring on MCC!
try playing at different times of the day, maybe you are getting foreign hosts. If I play too late at night I end up with foreign hosts which are always horrible.
The connection has always been suboptimal in H4. Immensely frustrating.
However, This is one of the things that MCC should address – which might make the game rather fresh on the XB1… We shall see.
I Quit playing H4 and went back to Halo Reach. Although many of the “new Features” hurt Classic Halo game play (i.e. level playing field of weapons and abilities - predictable weapon locations - vehicles as weapons instead of being neutered), the lag was the thing that ended it for me.
70% of my H4 war games (thousands of them) were lagged by 0.5+ seconds or more. People strobing across the map, pulling the trigger on a heavy weapon and it firing up to 5 seconds later after I duck back into cover, emptying your DMR into a enemies head and they kill you with a single burst of the AR - that sort of crap.
10% of my Halo Reach (and other titles - including Halo 3, Halo 3 ODST, COD II, GTA 5, GTA 4, Destiny Beta, Sonic etc. etc.) ever lag as bad as H4. The only one that was close to being as bad as H4, was BF4 on XBox 360.
My connection has < 30 ms ping time to local server, and even across North America I get <70 ms ping times. I have 52 MegaBits per second down, 11 MBps up on ADSL and am the only device on the network.
It’s Just H4 net work code that is the problem.
And I have my doubts about the Azure Server cloud for XBox One and MCC. I bought an XBox One to play Destiny. While waiting, I started playing TitanFall. Many of the issues I experienced there with being shot through walls or having enemies run by me and then they assassinate me form behind while standing in front me are still happening. There are also lots of weird connectivity issues too - servers lagging out or weird pauses in the game lobby.
I often wonder if its Halo 4, or more likely - ISPs and their “net neutrality” stance.
Can’t wait for dedicated servers.

I 1,000% agree.

I REALLY hope this doesn’t happen on MCC. Since I’m buying a One strictly for Halo, I’ll be forced to return it if I can’t enjoy MCC. At that point, I won’t have patience for H5G…fool me once…fool me twice…
Are you at least cautiously optimistic this won’t happen for MCC?
There has always been problems with the connection of Halo 4. I have a 30MB connection but some days it is almost unbearable. I hope the dedicated servers helps it.

I don’t have enough game experience on the XBox One yet to draw any conclusions. The only PvP game I have played is TitanFall. When Destiny is out on the 9th, I will have a better idea on PvP play.
The main issue with Halo 4 was it’s abysmal methodology for picking PvP host. If you had no or very limited game play experience, then the servers for H4 made you the host. So if your a newb, then you will very likely pull host - regardless of what your connection is. I could elaborate and describe real cases of this, but it would be juts beating a dead horse.
At least with dedicated servers, there won’t be any local host advantage. But unless they have rewritten all the network code for all the 4 Halo versions, I don’t see how it’s going to work.
And I do hope that MCC is on dedicated host servers, otherwise it and H5 likely won’t be on my shelf.
^agree the MCC will make or break me buying halo 5 as well.

Did they mention them adding dedicated servers? I must have missed that.
Also I usually feel like it’s my fault because I’m Australian which is on the other side of the world
Hell I would be surprised if there is more then 15 people online right now and reading this

Do you use an ethernet cable or wi-fi for your Xbox?

A lot of people like my accent.
I feel honored :3
I read that a number of different gaming networks were attacked this last weekend (Sony’s got hurt the worst) in spam attacks. Wonder if this hit anyone.
