Some day these all need to be added to Backwards Compatibility, no ifs ands or buts about it.

It has to be done this year!.. I hope…
I think it’s possible, regardless of MCC. Look at the Bioshock trilogy or Gears 1. They have remasters and the originals were later added to the BC.
I would think this would eventually happen since the titles were so popular on 360.
Hoping that this happens. I want to play some ODST firefight but don’t want to go through the hassle of setting up and using the old 360.
I want all of them wahahhahahaha!

It will never happen because of the MCC. They would never sell copies if they made those games backwards compatible.

exactly. It would be easier to patch MCC.
This needs to happen, ESPECIALLY ODST since there is NO one way to play firefight on xbox one which makes me incredibly sad since ODST firefight was my favorite coop experience. Everyone argues they won’t because of MCC, but has anyone noticed they royally screwed the pooch with MCC. It has a small player base because it was so broken for months after release they quickly lost people’s confidence, and frankly it still has things that piss me off. I’ve had issues playing campaigns online with friends and the fact they never update the ranking or reset the ranking on the playlists is super annoying. Its a terrible ranking system and needs some love. Plus playlist wise its super limited. All in all they show they don’t support MCC anymore which is frustrating because as broken as it is I still love it. I would be ok with no backwards compatibility ONLY if A) ODST firefight was added untarnished to MCC and you could still play splitcreen on xbox live AND B) If Halo 3 had its own social playlist on MCC. Otherwise both ODST and Halo 3 NEED to be backwards compatible. Frankly if Microsoft wants to do the right thing they should make all Halo games backwards compatible. We all already spent a fortune on those games in the past and backwards compatibility only helps xbox sales which Microsoft could really use.

If patching the MCC was easy it would of be done after one of the many, many attempts by 343i.
Making games backwards compatible isn’t a cake walk but after 300+ games they seem to have a pretty good idea of how to do it.
Also let’s understand what Backwards Compatibility true purpose is, and sales isn’t the force driving it.
The Backwards Compatibility program is about creating a lasting ecosystem that gives players a greater selection of games while not necessarily abandoning last generation’s games due to upgrading to new hardware.
This in turn creates a feature in which future and past can co-exist. PC gamers have had this capacity forever so now MS has caught on to the concept that should of been here at the launch of the Xbox One and will be here at the launch of the Scorpio.

Ya fair enough i can see your point and makes sense.
I disagree. I don’t think the difficulty of patching MCC is the problem rather the limited resources if any 343 is willing to put towards MCC. I think their concentration is on the new games.
Just like the kiddos that want Black Ops 2 to be BC, it might not happen along with other top hit titles like H3, Rage, etc.
People need to understand, (although I do see some people with some actual knowledge plus 1 to them) that backwards compatibility isn’t as easy as it seems, it’s not a cakewalk for a 360 launch title to become playable on the Next Gen consoles. The process that goes behind making these games playable is beyond my knowledge, but I will tell you on how they could make them playable (in my research and point of view).
Let’s say, Halo 3, the gem that made the Xbox 360 super popular back in the late 2000’s, is an idea that could be playable on the Xbox One. If Microsoft wants to test the game out to see if it’s even playable to the Xbox community, then they’d have to perform the following tasks (based on how I see it):
- MS would have to ask the game studio’s permission to have legal access to the game product’s license.
- If MS gets the license, they’d have to test the game on the Xbox 360 emulator that’s programmed within the Xbox One Console.
- Test the game itself to see if all available features are working and usable.
- Test campaign, options, multiplayer, etc. and spot any errors within the game’s code.
- Making sure that all bugs, glitches, etc. are PROPERLY fixed
- Making multiple test runs to find out if multiplayer works by performing different tasks (x) amounts of times.
- Testing how the servers could potentially act and see if the game is playable without any input lag, chat lag, etc.
- After performing all these test runs on everything in the game, they could try to make sure all stats, achievements, etc. are tracked and saved.
- Shabbammm! Make the product available to play on the Xbox One Console.
I apologize for making my comment/essay confusing, but i’m just wanting to explain my point of view on how the BC process isn’t easy, and everyone might not get everything they desire. It would be awesome to have H3 added to be playable on the Xbox One Console via Xbox 360’s Emulator.
They should , the MCC had a lack of customization and its practically dead now. Halo 3 was one of the most xbox 360 games ever and has way more options than halo MCC

Practically dead? I disagree, if it was practically dead, then how would the game’s server be up and running still. Sure TMCC was a huge fail on 343i’s part, but will that stop players from playing the only updated last gen titles on the Xbox One? No, I’m still finding fast matches, and have been for the pasr 6 months. People always say a game is dead because of how low the population might be and the fact that almost no one plays the game anymore. A more appropriate term to describe TMCC’s state of being is rather very endangered due to some remaining glitches, and possible bugs and also the tendancy of disconnecting from lobbies sometimes.

Yeah but Microsoft already owns the rights to all the Halo games so those should be a given!

I know, but I don’t know how it would affect current game population, and other stuff.
I wouldn’t worry about population. Like someone else said even though MCC has lower population people still play. And I guarantee backwards compatible halo 3 would be super popular. The one I’m really holding out for is ODST. I can’t tell you how bad I want to play ODST firefight with my buddies again. They all got rid of their 360’s
