Backwards Compatibility Party Chat Confusion

My brother and I have Xbox Ones but never owned Xbox 360s, so backwards compatibility is hugely exciting for us as it opens the door to many games we missed out on before that we can now play. But it also means we have a knowledge gap as we know nothing about the Xbox 360 interface.

The other day we tried playing Halo Reach together online and had a great deal of trouble figuring out how to do it, particularly with confusion over party invites and game invites. For instance, it seems that we were able to have party chat open on both Xbox One and Xbox 360 simultaneously, and this eventually led to party chat crashing.

Ideally, we’d like to use Xbox One party chat and then just try to do game invites via Xbox 360’s UI. Is that possible? Or should everything be done through Xbox 360 (when we tried it this way, party chat voice quality really went down).

Start a party and invite only using the Xbox one UI if you want Xbox one parties to continue in the 360 emulator. Game invites should be done in 360 and you shouldn’t create 360 parties and Xbox one parties simultaneously as it causes confusion, you can mute players who are in game chat in the setting (:
