I’ve been experiencing this same issue. Halo Channel theme music plays under the video. Ruins the cinematic effect of Nightfall, not to mention terminal videos.
I’m glad I’m not the only one experiencing it, I don’t really have a solution for it. I hope someone from 343i can respond regarding this issue.
Need to ask a few questions so I can investigate this issue:
a) Does this only happen when a video is launched from MCC, or does it happen when you run Halo Channel on its own, and launch videos?
b) Does this occur for all videos or just specific videos?
c) If you terminate the video and then replay it, does that happen as well?
d) If you are experiencing this while using Halo Channel alone, does it happen in the Start Screen (initial landing page) or End Screen or both? Or when launching Second Stories ?
Trying to get enough information so we can investigate, and any help is appreciated.
I also have this problem and was wondering if others experienced. I like to watch the terminal videos as I play the campaign, but it either plays music over the video, OR if I watch more than one terminal video, it often just says “welcome back to Halo Channel” and nothing loads. This sucked when I was playing Halo 4 because you can only access the terminals from the campaign on your first play through so I missed some of the terminals. Sure, I can watch them now on just on Youtube, but I like to experience them during campaign as some of them are relevant to the plot. I find Halo Channel to be a hassle. It’s a cool idea but it’s frustrating to use. Halo Waypoint is much easier to navigate.

All of the terminal videos that you have unlocked can be viewed in Halo Channel at any time once they have been unlocked. Simpy navigate to the Games twist, select ‘View Episodes’ in the Halo Terminals content panel, and select the game you wish to view terminals from. In this case, select Halo 4 and then navigate to the terminal of choice.
If you wish to view them sequentially, simply select the first terminal and at the completion of viewing it, the app will load the next unlocked terminal automagically.

A. For me, both. Although slightly more prevalent when launched from MCC.
B. Happened for me on multiple types of videos (Sprint, Nightfall Stories, and almost all Terminals).
C. Sometimes. Most of the time I have to restart the HC to get it to not loop the music over the video.
D. As soon as the HC loads, the music will play and simply not stop. It will continue to loop over a video being played, and you will hear both the video/homepage music audio at the same time.
This has happened to me roughly 10-15 times: almost all the terminal videos and a handful of Nightfall side-stories, and during 1 episode of Sprint.
So, is there any solution?
I too am experiencing this extremely annoying background music that plays over the Nightfall episode music to the point where you can’t hear what the actors are saying. Would you PLEASE provide an option to turn the mind-numbing repeat background music OFF.
I’m having the same problem, can’t watch a single episode of Nightfall without the background music looping. Pretty annoying, please fix soon because I’d like to be able to watch Nightfall without that distraction. So far overall, Master Chief Collection and Halo Channel have been a severe disappointment.

I also get this, only ever seems to play the music though the video if I come from MCC, hard reset seems to fix it though.
+1 to the above. The Halo channel app overall just seems like a large pile of bugs:
Still having the same issue.
Is the background music even absolutely necessary?
An easy fix is to just scrap the halo channel’s background music.
The only solution I have found is to exit and restart the app, and hope that the problem does not persist

We have found that if you watch more than 1 video in sequence, you will encounter the background music issue, and yes, it happens when you link in from MCC. We are unable to reproduce this issue if you launch Halo Channel by itself and watch videos.
We are also testing the fix for this, so in the next update this issue should vanish.

ohaider.
a) EDIT: Happened when watching SpOps episodes back to back.
Only when launched from the Halo Channel. Terminals and Spartan Ops cutscenes work fine (except for the Chapter 6 cutscene, which is a whole other bug), for me at least.
b) Since I experienced this in H2A cutscenes, SpOps cutscenes, and Terminals and other people experienced it in Nightfall, probably.
c) It happens however you play a video.
d) I’m not sure what that means exactly, but for all I know the background music doesn’t go away when watching anything. It goes away during the Start Screen (which I’m assuming is where the “Up Next” thing is), and is replaced by the video’s respective start screen music though.

I also have this problem.
a. It happens for me on both occasions but mostly when launched from MCC.
b. It occurs for me for terminal videos and Spartan Ops
c. Terminating the video does nothing to stop the background music.
d. The background music starts and never stops, not for second stories, nightfall, or any other video.
Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has figured out a solution to this issue. I am still having it and this thread hasn’t seen any action in several days.

We should have an update out soon that should correct the problem.
