So i’ve played Infinite during 2 flights, and since launch. I’ve finished the campaign on legendary, and almost finished the battle pass. So last night I decided to go back to Halo 5, and MCC to just to see the difference. And here is what I observed.
Halo 5 is much more fun to play. It has more game modes, more weapons, more customization, its just more. It has better physics, animations, vehicle controls, and using a xbox controller feels way better.
MCC is way more. It could be argued that there is an overwhelming amount of options in MCC its great. Classic gameplay, super-fun to play 4 player split screen with family and friends. I feel like MCC is where 343 should have stopped. Meaning should not have developed Infinite and just kept expanding and updating it.
Both games are not without flaws, I’m just stating that overall after playing Infinite I defiantly prefer Halo 5 and MCC over infinite.
What are your thoughts which do you prefer and why?
- Halo Infinite
- Halo 5
- Halo MCC

I honestly like all 3 games and it is great that we can play them all.
I still have a few achievements left in the MCC.
I play Halo 5 mainly for warzone firefight.
I think Infinite is a really solid foundation for a game and I want to see it grow and get better and more stable.

Agreed. I just think it would be a useful to discuss what worked well in past games to see how infinite can continue to improve.
I prefer Halo Infinite.
Love the older Halo games to pieces but I’ve played them far too much for one lifetime, need something new.
That being said, if Halo MCC used Halo 5/HI’s ranking system then I’d happily play it a bunch more. I prefer ranked to social and Halo MCC has the worst ranked mode of any Halo game.

I also think Halo 5 gets a bad rap, when its really fun and the art style isn’t that bad. I personally think it would be cool if 343 made a season that brought back armor from Halo 5, it would be really cool to see armor from the past mixed with new designs.

IMO there were too many changes vs the previous Halo’s and that is why some prefer MC or H5, and with this new model/f2p it has effected how players view Infinite.

What are a few things you would change?
Opinions will vary, but one of the things I believe 343 should have stuck with is the Halo theme when designing maps. That is one of the things Bungie was good at using the campaign for a reference.
There are a list of things but the most important thing for me is the quality of the work being put into a game.
Edit: the best way to sum this up is that with the previous Halo’s I felt more connected.

Halo infinite has desync, constant crashes and bad optimization though the gameplay is good, Halo 5 just sucks, MCC is a lot of fun.
I prefer MCC right now, when 343 fixes infinite I’ll play it again

It’s kinda hard to argue with the content that is in MCC. You have 6 games with all the content every released for them and you can play all of them seamlessly.
There’s no launching different games or anything, you can just play a Reach match right after a Halo 3 one.
Infinite is great but man does the content feel a little lacking. It not totally devoid of content as some players like to make it out to be but I can only play on the same maps so many times, and as I’m sticking to ranked because of SBMM just kinda ruins Socials, I often end up playing game modes that are inherently frustrating for me like oddball and strongholds

I was wondering recently… Why could they of not just implemented cash shop and added Halo 6 onto MCC? Smarter business people would know more than me… but they had a UI people already liked and a system that people were already enjoying… why reinvent the wheel?

MCC
And not because it is a better game, personally i prefer the Infinite gameplay. BUT everything around infinite sucks: issues, constant monetization, taken features like custom emblems and colors, and FOMO on almost everything.
MCC is a game you can enjoy. Didnt get the 25 sniper kill? dont worry not big deal, but you will have to start again next week tho

The poll will be skewed for sure. Silent majority will either leave halo completely or keep playing infinite for now. Going to stay with infinite but scale back a bit due to the various issues.
People can claim MCC is popular, but it’s not. I face the same groups of people every weekend I play. Knowing exactly how people play isn’t fun, knowing they are much better than my friends isn’t fun. Knowing they will just farm objective for kda isn’t fun. The majority of the population left on MCC is either trash or elite, very few average players from what I see. And who knows how MCC really match makes with trueskill 2.0 behind the scenes. Cant find jack in ranked except 3, which once you get to about 15 you start finding 50s - which doesn’t mean a lot really skill wise - but those are also the people who play 8 hours a day still. Large chunk of the populated just does customs - nothing wrong with that - but it’s always specific game types like fat kid, which is fun for a bit, but not the main course imo. Only thing I really miss is 3’s shot leading - always will.
I will never install 5 again. 5’s core advanced movement sucks imo, most of the maps still felt like they didn’t fit the core gameplay either (last played in 2019 I think). I did solo legendary and rage uninstalled it literally right after.

I only voted for Halo 5 and Halo Infinite for three reasons.
1, I recognize Halo Infinite’s future potential. It in no right deserves this vote as it is, but when Forge and Custom Games comes around, this could easily be my favorite title to play alongside games like Destiny 2. I just can’t swallow desynced and buggy multiplayer games 24/7, its just not my speed.
2, I played a lot of Halo 5 back when it was recent and overall just enjoyed the game. Not having local splitscreen was a big turn-off, but once we got our hands on Forge and Custom Games (and after the long-time support kicked in), I was able to spend a lot more time in-game and enjoy it too. Warzone Firefight was my favorite mode, and mythic was a fun challenge.
(The campaign was lukewarm but fun to play, but then again, I’m a low bar to clear with campaigns.)
3, I was one of the early buyers of the MCC. If any of you are or were savvy with the state of the game on its launch, you know where I’m going with this. I wasn’t really able to get into it when it was most important for me to, and that kind of turned me off from the game for playing anything besides old Halo campaigns.
They hadn’t introduced the Match Composer yet either.

Halo infinite is just not a fun game to play. I could get on h5 or mcc and play for hours and not get bored. I play a few games of infinite and get off and then don’t get back on for three days. Btb is broken, vehicles Are the worst out of any halo, very little content, no real progression, nothing to grind for. Great they made a good campaign, but if the games supposed to last ten years multiplayer needs to be good. You can only replay the campaign so many times. There is a lot they need to fix for infinite to be fun.

No opinions are wrong here, I just like to see how others play, and what we could add to infinite based on past experiences or what we like about previous games.
I personally like MCC for Halo 3 and H2A. I am actually a part of a gaming group that meets once a week and we play 4 to 8 players on split screen with two tvs in different rooms. We are all between 30-45 years old and MCC is the only way we can still do this.
Because of the variety of games, game types, weapons, vehicles etc, we had been able to keep playing the game we enjoy for nearly 10 years.
My group was disappointed with Halo 5 because we could no longer do this, and we are hopeful with Infinite but it lacks many features that we are used to. It also doesn’t feel the same as every Halo before it. Previously you could drop in any Halo and the controls felt intuitive and aiming felt the same, but that doesn’t seem to be the case in Infinite.

I feel like Halo The Master Chief Collection, getting some real love is making it a celebration of Halo.
It’s all the good Halo stuff in one big -Yoink!- game.
Wow, it’s so nice.

While I haven’t been playing the MP much these past few weeks, I am enjoying going back through my LASO play through and unlocking everything else to 100%… despite having down so on a lower difficulty already…
Can’t shake the feeling that I will need all the FOBs and stuff for campaign DLC.

I tried doing LASO, but I can’t even get past the first area. I’m that good. So I’ve given up that.
I’m playing MCC every week for years now, especially since they introduced weekly/seasonal challenges and season points. And I am still playing it even after Infinite’s release.
Since Infinite released (and before, during the flights) I have been playing that as well alongside MCC, as I still enjoy it, although significantly less than the classics.
I have never and will never enjoy H5G. I hate everything about this game: From the looks, sounds, and especially the gameplay. This game, to me, is just trash; worse than trash, actually, because some trash can at least be recycled or composted to become something worthwhile eventually.
I currently no longer have access to my Xbox, so I’m playing on PC where I can’t play H5G anyways, but even before I didn’t and even if it somehow came out on PC right this instant, I wouldn’t touch it with a ten-foot-pole.
