Maybe eventually, but there’s no real business case to do so since Anniversary is already part of BC and it’s available in MCC. But, I’m with you in that I’d like to see the original CE and Halo 2 become part of BC so that every Halo game can be played on one console.
E3 2018 today is likely where they will announce anything new OG Xbox BC related. Here’s hoping they drop the bombshell that Halo CE and Halo 2 are BC, complete with online multiplayer capabilities. Who knows, maybe they will create a server specifically for BC Xbox games to allow Xbox Live but it is wishful thinking. I’d be happy with them being BC regardless.

I’m confident that it’ll happen eventually. Remember that Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo 4 - all four being a part of Halo: The Master Chief Collection - were made backwards compatible on the Xbox One.
As Halo: The Master Chief Collection isn’t viewed in the most positive light and the versions of Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 within it don’t offer the same multiplayer experiences as the originals, there are good reasons to make the originals playable on Xbox One.
