Ba hammer is ridiculous

This banhammer -Yoink- is -Yoinking!- ridiculous. I lag out of 1 game and get banned, and it’s not even a ranked game. It’s a -Yoinking!- big team battle that I’m forced to play because there’s no other social playlist to warm up on. I should mention this is the first game I’ve “quit” in over 2 weeks. What the -Yoink-? Who’s -Yoinking!- genius idea at 343 was this? What parameters are they using to decide this? And if I want to quick out of a -Yoinking!- game, that’s my right. I’m a paying customer. I bought this -Yoink- game and I pay for -Yoinking!- Xbox live. By far the worst -Yoinking!- makers of halo. Ever. The playlists suck. The maps suck. The spawns suck. The game types suck. The weapons suck. And now this -Yoink-. 343 -Yoinking!- sucks. Period.

It is your right to quit but buying and playing the game means that you agree to follow its rules, which includes actions taken against you for quitting out of games

I feel the same way. I have a newborn and a 4 year old I work 60 hours a week got banned for 5 hours because I couldn’t back out of match making ( babys want to eat right now they don’t care what your doing). I never quit games I don’t kill my teamates I just can’t back out of match making so me halo times done I think 5 hours is a little much for a bann

I’m in the same boat. Since owning the game, I’ve quit twice for legitimate purposes (family matters). Tonight, I idled during one game (to tend to my daughter), and was booted out. Then I played a few more games all the way through. I didn’t betray anyone, I didn’t quit. After finishing the latest game, I was prompted with a ban stating I had idled too many times, and that I’d have to wait 1 hour and 43 minutes. Huh? One time…too many times? Man. I really enjoy the game, but this is a bit much. You’d think you’d be able to chat with 343 like you can with Xbox Live support to discuss your actual case, so that your voice could be heard swiftly, and allow for a reasonable outcome. I get that folks are busy, and I sound a bit childish for complaining, but I don’t feel that 3 infractions over a few months merits an hour and 43 minutes ban in Big Team Battle. Any chance 343 has stepped up and admitted that the system is flawed to such an extent that they need to revise these policies? Great job on the development of the game guys. Poor execution on the ‘control’ and support aspects.

Yes, I agree that although you are a paying customer, there are still rules you have to follow. But, at the same time, you don’t have to really follow those rules because they cannot force you to follow their rules when playing their game.

No one can force another to follow any rules, that’s why there are consequences for not following them. Everyone need to decide if they think it’s worth it not following the rules.

Of course they can’t force you, but if you break the rules then you have to deal with the consequences. If there were none then people could quit, idle and betray all they wanted without any action being taken against them. Might be a video game, but you still need a little order

I’m for the ban hammer. I am also against having the option to leave a game, which would seperate people who disconnect from people who leave on purpose. It is the responsibility of the player to allocate enough time, and be respectful of your teamates time. If you leave, you make the game worse for both sides. As I find playing arena slayer matches, (in platinum and diamond), at least one person on the losing team will quit mid way through the game, EVERY game. The problem for the team without a player is that it is exponentially harder to win, and the problem for the team with all their players is that the game is less challenging, and therefore less rewarding in improving skill. My point is, if there is an ability to leave there should be an ability for the servers to fill the team back up mid match. To my knowledge I have never seen a team fill in arena, definitely in warzone, and have never been dropped into the middle of an arena game. This can obviously be left out of ffa as an exception; maybe along with the option to leave. Please be respectful of others time.

I believe stckerboy was right in saying you inevitably follow the rules from purchase, even if you don’t follow them when playing the game. The right of 343 to enact bans is for the games betterment. They have the choice to ban you from their servers, just like they have the responsibility to upkeep clean, working servers.

In addition to what others have mentioned, it’s important to note that social playlists aren’t there for you to quit when you feel like it. Quitting subtracts from the fun of the remainder of your team left behind, no matter what the playlist (FFA exempt). Social playlists are there (and should be more of them) so that there is something available where players don’t have to worry about ranking up/down, and can play a bit more relaxed. “Social” is not a synonym for “quittable”.

I just think that instead of being prevented from playing for a duration of time, offenders should be matched against each other.
Have them play a certain amount of “clean” games for their own part, with probation times after being let back into the normal herd.

Also, no rewards or stats tracked from the “Ban matches” in order to prevent abuse.

No way to wait the “ban” out either, need to complete matches is the only way to get back.

Then again, that’s my opinion.

I agree, the ban hammer is TOO crazy. After being booted by the server for 2 games (I never quit games) I am banned for 34 minutes. This is not good and NEEDS to be fixed.
