As I understand it, all of Halo 5 is run via Azure servers globally.
What are your experiences with your continental Azure servers? And their relations to your NAT type?
As an Australian, my experiences are all over the place. Sometimes I’ve had incredible connection speeds and consistency, but other times it has been deplorable.
It was explained to me that this could either be online population, or my NAT type, which was Moderate.
Since port forwarding and getting my Xbox to OPEN type NAT, my connections have somewhat improved.
But I must say, my profession is far from internet technicalities, and this kind of thing was alien to me. Why does the consumer have to work out how to port forward for the ideal/optimal gaming experience? Why is there no official Xbox guide to doing this? And why are Xbox support so useless at advising on this?
And then another note about the Azure servers, for the Aussies on here or those who know Australia. I understand that there is one in Sydney and another one in Brisbane, but not one in Melbourne?
I would have thought that one of the biggest technology consuming cities in Australia (if not the biggest or close to) would have it’s own Azure server. Not to mention one of the most populated cities in Aus.
So wherever you are from how do you feel about the running of the official servers, and the various support methods meant to assist the consumer?
PS. I am not binning Halo 5 or comparing it to other games.
