Gattleing guns of doom, or the beacon of hope?
The AV-49 Wasp shares many characteristics with its’ predecessor the AV-14 Hornet.
For obvious reasons we will traverse beyond the documented facts plastered over the Halonets.
My experience with this nimble, yet docile creature has provided me with many talents like stalking from a distance before taking out my foes. The Wasp has minimal shielding, and the armor might as well be deemed “tin can death trap”. After only several seconds of sustained Magnum fire, the Wasp may be destroyed. To avoid this you will need to attack on the go. Try to spend no more than 2-3 minutes within any one area of a map.
Players have complained that the Wasp is to weak to ever be used as a valuable asset, however this bee packs a sting. If you can read into your targets moves, you can line up a dual-core rocket shot from more than halfway across the map. Additionally, this monster carries an onboard AA Tracking System allowing you to lock onto hostile aircraft from anywhere within 50m. This, along with the gattleing gun will allow you to make quick work of Banshee craft in both Warzone and Custom Games.
Moving onto tactics… the Wasp as mentioned before, cannot stand aggressive hostile fire, and if the canopy is blown out, you risk taking a sniper round to the visor. You may avoid this by doing one of two things:
- “Move on the Prowl” - Fly low enough to break Line of Sight while maintaining an altitude great enough to avoid being skyjacked. - “Strike the Iron” - Scout out the battle field from afar and then move in to neutralize as many Spartans as you can within two minutes. Pay attention to the timer and when your time is up, get out.Another ideal concept to keep in mind is that a Wasp Pilot should know when to fight, and when to run. If you fail to get the first shot on the target, run.
Alright, let’s switch things up. Now if you are the Spartan fighting the Wasp, aim for either the turbines or the canopy (the spiny things or the glass guarding the pilot). The turbines are a weak spot while the canopy may shatter, exposing the pilot.
