I’ve seen a lot of people claim that the AR, SMG and other automatic weapons are overpowered, but I disagree.
The main reason?
Because there’s no longer duel wielding in the game. In the original Halo’s you could duel wield two smg’s at a time, or a covenant plasma rifle and SMG, and the combo together would have killed you just as fast as an AR or SMG in Halo 5.
I do agree that the SMG’s range should be lowered a bit, but it’s killing time is not a lot faster than old duel wields.
On top of this, BR’s are also longer range and more accurate these days, so it balances out.
The game is faster paced and quicker to kill, but to compensate there is also sprint, bigger maps and thruster pack.
It’s balanced but that doesn’t mean that it’s competitive.
Why not use one of the other countless “autos are fine/OP”-Threads to post this? It’s not like you’re bringeing something insanely new or interesting to the table…
Dual wielding actually cut the effectiveness of both weapons in half. We did tests during the time that Halo 2 and 3 were out and the kill times were near identical with 1 smg or 2. The only weapons that didn’t degrade were the pistol and plasma pistol combo as 1pp hit dropped shields , and 1 pistol round killed.
AR is fine, that SMG on the other hand needs it’s range nerfed some, either that or it becomes less accurate at longer range. Main reason why it isn’t broken is because i’ve out gunned the SMG with an AR a few times. At least the SMG isnt a miniature SAW
I think the Autos are done right in this game, with the exception of the SMG- it’s fine in Arena as a pickup but shouldn’t be a loadout weapon in Warzone in its current state of power.
