I’m not asking for a major upgrade here. But I think that these two items need to be buffed a bit. The auto-sentry is close to useless. It would be very frustrating if this AA was really powerful, but I would like it to be somewhat useful.
Make it deploy faster. That stupid posture the player assumes when it is employed takes way too long.
Make it regenerate faster. As weak and slow as it shoots, as long as it takes to deploy one might thing that a player could at least have them ready to deploy again fairly quickly. Not the case. They are very slow to regenerate.
Give them a little more health. Not much, but this would make them a bit more formidable. They don’t do much damage, so let them stay alive long enough to do their small damage.
With pulse nades, I ask for no upgrade. They are the worst nade in the game, at the very least virtually no one would consider them the best. So could we at least spawn with 2 without using an upgrade to do so?
I use the autosentry sparingly but I primarily use it to funnel enemies into a choke point, or block off an entry. I wouldn’t count on it to do much damage, but it is useful for pointing out crouched opponents. The pose is a bit silly - where does it come from, anyway? I’d certainly try your proposed settings.
As for the pulse nades, they can be just as powerful as a sticky, minus the stick (e.g. one can kill a fully shielded opponent). I’d rather they cut down the # of stickies to 1 rather than increase the pulse nades.
I only use pulse grenades if I have ‘Explosions’ turned on for that class. otherwise its near useless. Also, it takes WAY too long to deploy the sentry gun unit.
Both the Autosentry and Pulse Grenade are in my main Loadout. I assure you, they do not need to be buffed. The Autosentry is my favorite AA, and it’s amazing; It always helps my kill times, and gives me the advantage. The Pulse Grenade is my favorite grenade, and almost always guarantees me a kill.
The auto sentry is by far one of the best AAs for objective modes and still fairly useful in slayer. As avak124 said, it is for support. It is best used in a defensive role in say Capture The Flag or Dominion.
I would go as far as to say Autosentry is op in smaller games (2v2, etc) because it instantly turns and shoots any player it sees. Say you’re on haven, if you place auto sentry top mid and watch it it will look wherever the players are coming from. Plus, your opponents can’t take you and the autosentry out at the same time.

This was a BIG problem in Action Sack’s Lightning Flag. Autosentry was (maybe still is?) an ordinance drop. Positioning it in the right spot could easily net you a rampage or heck, even untouchable.
Despite earning a spree in lightning flag(where players only need 1 hit from it to die) and being a semi-defensive unit to slow pursuers in CTF, its just not as effective/diverse (IMO) as the other abilities.
I have used the Asentry only a handful of times and consider it a nuisance going against it. That’s what its made for and you will get a kill or 2 from it. I don’t have the patience to use it so I don’t know if it needs tweaking.
However, having mastered the pulse grenade it has its uses. 1 grenade is definitely not enough. It’s far from powerful even with explosives on. You can’t throw it down a hallway. It will stop and expand to the closest surface it senses. It wont stick to a moving object for some reason. And 1 thing it is impossible to do is kill more than 1 person with 1 grenade so the cheevo is legit.
Due to my working towards Weapon Mastery, I have not used the Autos-entry much of late. Howeer, I do have about 100 kills with it, inlcuding a couple of triple kills it got taking out damaged hogsand it even got teh kill shot on one of my Killing Frenziesand saved my back a few times when taking on multiple enemies. It racks up yons of assists.
It is fine!
As for some of the issues you raised, that is what adding the Mod AA Efficiency is for!
The Pulse nade I have mastered and if used right, it is freaking awesome. Used against damaged hogs nets multi-kills when you work out how to use it against a vehicle! I have had many double and triple kills with it when used in combination with the Storm Rifle etc abd taking on multiple enemies.

I bet I have more Pulse nade kills than you. I don’t play the game much anymore, but I was ranked 4th in the world for pulse nade kills a month or two ago (halotracker is my source). They are my favorite grenades too. You really have to be accurate with the throw. But still, you only get one, and frag grenades are easier to get an enemies shield down b/c of splash damage. On top of that you can bounce them around corners AND you have two of them.
The auto-sentry is without a doubt the worst AA. I remember checking Halotracker.com for statistics there is hardly any kills at all with them. I don’t run into them much, and i don’t think I have EVER been killed by one. Not sure though.
I have a hard time taking your post seriously. The sentry is not “amazing” and pulse nades to not come close to gauranteed kills.
I think I might of come off a bit rude with my previous post.
I guess I am interested in your opinion on the matter. What grenade and AA do you guys think is the worst than? Statistically pulse nades are way below that of frags and plasmas. And the sentry must be the least used. The regen has a lot of the same problems as the AA. I see that one almost as rarely as the sentry.
But, i mean c’mon. Even if you got a triple kill, which is very hard to believe, the opponents must of been so extremely bad. You simply cannot get away with that kind of stuff against high level players. Even the pulse nades. I have a lot of kills with them, but if I am going against some one of equal skill I would probably change my loadout.
They might be jewels but it doesn’t mean they shine enough. I think the autosentry should get a deploy rate to be faster and maybe slight buff. Something should be done with pulse considering the other two grenades.
> Honestly I could just go without the pulse grenade altogether.
Yeah I know. That is sort of the point I am making. There really isn’t a practical reason for using them. Frags and plasmas are objectively better. And I say that as someone who is ranked 3rd in the world for Pulse Nade kills in Slayer. I only use them to humiliate people.
Pulse grenades are fine. The only change I would make is allow there to be two in load outs instead of just one like it is now.
If you think pulse grenades are weak you are doing it wrong. They are perfect for cleaning up people in a corner or holed up somewhere. Also they are being used extremely efficiently in close quarter combat. With the quick throwing animation and fast explosion from pulse grenades, you can land a melee and throw pulse grenade almost simultaneous and kill your opponent instantly. It kills at speeds similar to a BXR.
The auto sentry is fine. There is little input from the user besides where they placed it. The amount of skill required to use does not justifies a buff. Buffing it would make it OP. You want to maintain the balance of learning curve and difficulty of use with weapons and AA’s. Auto sentry as it is right now is fine.

So your the guy who kept humiliating me over and over again. lol
For your average player the pulse grenade is almost set up to fail. It takes time to get use to them. 343 has put them on some maps but more drops would help when you don’t have any grenades.
