Auto flag pickup is HORRIBLE!

Why cant we have the choice to drop it and pick it up? Its such a pain the way it is right now, i cant even begin to describe how bad of a feature this is.

Yes but at the same time its nice to not hear the announcer going crazy bc someone is flag jumping…

I’d rather listen to that than have the flag jump into my hands when I have a rocket launcher, and not be able to put it down.

exactly, this takes out so much strategy that was involved with flag matches.

I am definitely okay with not being able to drop the flag (because of the announcer spamming that happens when you can) but choosing to pick it up would be nice.

I was in a firefght with a guy, laying into him with my AR, would have killed him except my teammate scored the flag right as I was in range for the auto pickup. It caught me by surprise and messed up my firing…so I died. We won the match 5-0 but still…

I hate when I am in fight and my team score and I die because flag spawn under me and my spartan change his weapon to magnum.
I don´t hate auto pick up it´s just frustrating sometimes.

So what I’m gathering from this thread is that one of Halo’s most popular gametypes was ruined because people don’t like hearing “flag taken” and “flag dropped.”

Really?

REALLY?!?!?!?!

The announcer excuse is garbage. It is still a problem, it’s just now instead of “Flag dropped, flag taken” it is “protect your flag, your flag down, enemy flag down,” it is just as bad if not worse in intense flag matches.

Not only that, it does force players to camp on spawns even harder. If a team has rockets, sniper, that gives two players on that team a reason never to pickup the flag. (which they shouldn’t as it removes a power weapon from their side.) Now what happens when a 3rd player has a power weapon? It comes down to only one person should pick up the flag.

Yet another thing that got fixed despite not being broken.

I hate to be one of the complainers but why does everything that was wrong in the last few halo games stay in for yet another turn, while just about everything that was fine as it was gets “improved”?

CTF is so bad now, I don’t need an announcement saying “protect your flag”, because its CAPTURE THE FLAG, I was going to do that anyway. I don’t need big arrows pointing to where my flag is, because I pay attention and follow where it is anyway. I don’t need a “KILL” message above the ENEMY carrying my flag, because I was already aware of the fact he is A)carrying my flag, and B) an ENEMY.

Games were so much more fun when they were challenging and made you think and have to work things out. Being spoon-fed kills and being told what to do through every step of the game is boring, and not rewarding in the slightest.

Simple solution: don’t walk over the flag. A minimum amount of situational awareness is all it takes.

Totally agree. And the announcer “problem” is ridiculous. Just deal with it people!! It’s a part of Halo!

Annoying announcer VS Being able to drop the flag, Hmmm… yeah toss the damn flag, the announcer can kiss my -Yoink-. Be even cool to throw it like an Oddball : )
