Auto Aim Much Stronger?

I’ve been kinda please with my halo experience of not having my crosshairs JERKED AROUND everywhere buy auto aim…until recently. It seems like only recently but my cross hairs are now being jerk around forcing me to miss snipe shots or any kind of zoomed in shot or even getting me killed. I get killed because multiple opponents will be on my screen and the one engaging me is weak and when i go to shoot them someone sprints infront of them forcing my crosshairs off my target and allowing the opponent to get the kill. Man i was really excited when i heard Halo 5 had little to no auto aim and it really seemed that way untill a couple days ago, most notedly yesterday(12/1/15). So what is going on?.. did they add auto aim in? did they beef up what they had? have i just never fallen victim to it till yesterday?

  1. Halo 5 has almost no auto-aim

  2. Every other Halo game would like to have a word with you…

My aim assist barely works but for whatever reason it kicks in super hard for no apparent reasons at random points, to the point of actually not even having to move the aim myself.

In the older Halo games, even Reach, it felt much easier to break away from the assist of doom. When I have multiple people challenging me, I could more effectively shoot at the person I want to shoot at. I have less of chance to finish of a weakened person in Halo 5 cuz my reticule wants to strongly snap to someone else. It wasn’t as bad before to me.

  1. Yes it does. Both in altering how the reticle moves (the precision aiming zone, when the reticle is near a target your sensitivity drops), and also computer controlled aim correction based on reticle proximity to target (bullet magnetism).

  2. Previous halo games used movement based aim correction & bullet magnetism (excluding Halo CE) . So, staffing left and right across a target would bend the reticle toward the target. But aiming left right across a target would suffer no adjustment.

Halo 5’s precision aiming zone makes the reticle sluggish, slow and unresponsive to player input. Bullet magnetism is computer controlled aiming which lowers the intrinsic value of player input producing quality aiming results. Add in the horrendous aim acceleration and absurdly slow max turn speed, and Halo 5 has produced one of the worst aiming experiences in a FPS game I have ever encountered.

Halo 5 has some fantastic FPS content, but the core fundamental process of pointing and shooting is neither engaging, rewarding, or intuitive. We will see what this December update brings to the aiming mechanics. For me personally, its a make or break moment for the game.

I thought this was a bug in the system that has been recognized and is currently being fixed

Very well explained. Good job.

Yes, 343 add autoaim with their last patch. H5 BR feels now H2A BR

There is actually way less aim assist in Halo 5, you are just developing better reaction timing, and you are noticing it much more.

The only time I notice any kind of auto aim is when I"m faced with two opponents and if they run close to each other my crosshair jumps to the one in front, even if i’m trying to kill the other guy… I can feel it pull to the one I"m not trying to shoot… gets me killed without getting a kill everytime…

Dude I just think that we ( as in all halo 5 gamers) have gotten used to the no auto aim. I’ve been feeling my crosshairs being pulled a tad bit as well but I just think it’s because we’re getting used to it. Imo

I know exactly what you mean. Its like an aim bot takes over your controls. I really dont like this.

For the most part i would agree with you.

I knew there was something wrong with the aiming!

Anyone else have proof of this or can validate with him?

Can I just point out that no matter how much auto-aim the game has, this entire problem would be solved with the ability to turn it off?

I’m not gonna lie, personally I feel like it has major auto-aim, even if people say it barely has any at all. When I got the game and loaded up campaign, my first engagement was a loss because once my reticle got near an enemy it felt like the thing came to a near stand-still and I couldn’t push it onto the enemy at all. Obviously it wasn’t as bad in multiplayer but it was still there. Different people have different experiences, and honestly this wouldn’t even be much of a point of discussion if the people that didn’t like it were allowed the option to just turn it off completely.

Same exact thing for me for both of these. It is so annoying getting killed due to game error and not human error.
