I know this isn’t the solution you want, but I’d suggest going to Halolfg.com and looking for a party to join with an American host. I frequent that site every now and then and we always have Australians joining the lobby because this reason.

Actually in the latest matchmaking update Australians can’t connect with Americans anymore.
I’ve been having trouble with certain game modes since launch basically. As of now I can only play General Warzone, team slayer and breakout. None of the other mode connect at all, always get an error message saying there aren’t enough players or something.

Thats not true, although something has changed. With bigger fireteams that are spread out it doesnt work, but i can queue wirh an american mate without any issues.
Total BS. You can find regular Warzone Assault games without queueing with another region? Must be a lonely game because no other australian on these forums ever seems to manage to get an assault match. However, i can get Swat, the very occassional breakout, and last season i could get FFA but it became imposiible once i hit diamomd 5.
OP I agree its a problem but i dont think i agree with opening the region in arena games, because the lag makes it hard to have any meaningful gameplay where both sides are level. For Warzone Assault though, which is more layed back and mess around, i think there should be an option to open it up.

It’s true for me and many others, lucky for you buddy. I can’t search in big fireteams or small.

A ‘region lock’ or ‘good connection’ button for both modes would be a win win for everyone.
Regional server selection option would solve all of this
just pick which server you want to play on and go
population counter for said servers would help too

I totally agree with you I’m Australian and I’m having the same problem I can’t do anything it takes like 3mins for my req store to load and the amount of times I have had to restart my halo 5 to find a suitable sever is crazy I hate it us Australians always get this crap I’m so close to quitting halo for good because of this, for example I love warzone assault I use to always find a game, but since February’s update I haven’t find a single one since, fix this problem 343 or you’ll start losing fans

Wow, sorry to hear, I didn’t know. Is it like that when you queue with just one other person in another region? That one works for me. Does it say something like ‘unable to find server suitable for all members of fireteam’ or something like that?
I think the most annoying part of all of this is the lack of transparency from 343i. I love the game, but on things like this we would be alot better off if 343 could just tell us how things work behind the scenes, and when they change it, rather than leaving us to guess about it and argue with each other’s anecdotal evidence on the forums. They have absolutely changed region locking numerous times on us Australians, and the only way we could figure it out was coming here and talking about our experiences. Things we have been through:
*On release, would not let you queue with any other region
*Shortly after release, would give you same error message but allow you to queue
*A little later, suddenly aussies are getting heaps of lag and hearing american voices for a couple weeks
*The above stops
*No more red error message when queueing with a single person from another region (for me)
*Now suddenly some people are unable to queue with other regions
Clearly 343 have changed things over and over again with our region. Would it have been hard to include this in the patch notes??
