Austin7934's Community Forge Morning (7/20)

Austin7934 Presents…
Community Forge Mornings 1
July 20th 12:00pm EST

Event: Community Forge
Date: Friday July 20th
Time: 12:00pm-5:00pm EST
Event Description:
Hey Forum go-ers! Coming July 20th 2012, I will be holding what i plan on calling, “Community Forge Mornings.” Everyone who is interested will gather together for a few hours and forge one map/one game type together and create something amazing for the community, from the community. We will put multiple creative minds together and will create something amazing and depending on how successful this event will be, will determine if I hold a 2nd one.
EDIT: There will be a second one, the turn out and results were great. It will be at a later time, most likely 4:00pm EST and the name of the event may be changed to, “Austin7934’s Community Forge Maps.” Regardless, you will know its a community forge event.
Everyone is invited to this event, just please comment below if you plan on attending. There will be 16 spots available for anyone (no prior forge experience needed)
I will be on Halo: Reach a little before the event begins, just join me on Xbox Live, I will be waiting in a lobby not in a party chat. If you plan on attending, add me on Xbox Live closer to the event date!
Im really looking forward to this event and I will constantly be updating this page. If you have any suggestions or ideas feel free to share them with me! I always see amazing forge maps in matchmaking made for the community so why not have the community make maps for the community. Once we complete the map, I will edit this thread on how it turned out including images, a detailed story of what we did, what happened, and any shenenagians that occurred and of course, the map and game type for you guys to try out!

Event Summary:
> After every event, I like to recap what happened and write an in-depth summary of what happened and what I thought about the event itself. Seeing as this is my first event, that must mean this is my first summary as well! Im going to take you through a step by step with me so you can relive the experience, experience it from my perspective, or experience it for the first time!
>
> Today I woke up at 10:30am and the first thought that hit me was, Its summer… why again did I make this a morning event? I then began preparing the secret gametype I have kept secret for this event which was a Search and Destroy gametype similar to the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 1 gametype, don’t hate, that was a great game in its time :stuck_out_tongue: I made sure that the gametype was working and created a test map to ensure it was functional. After multiple tries I confirmed it worked!
>
> With only 15 minutes before my first event I began inviting people until I noticed most people were still not online and were mostly still asleep… This worried me and I started thinking that this event was about to fail. I waited to start the event and eventually started it when Newyankalt The Greybeard and THEscourse were there. I showed them the test map I created so they can get an idea of what we were building and when everyone was on the same page as I was, we hoped over to forge world and began the event officially! We searched the many lands of forge world until we chose an area scorch referred to as “Texas” which is located near Hemorrhage. We discussed our ideas and began forging. I will admit, the event started slowly and we were pretty quiet at the start of the event but rest assured, things did not remain this way.
>
> Of course as Waypointers, we all started discussing the forums and Halo 4. We talked about what we were excited for in Halo 4, the Halo 4 forums, and a lot more. I even got to discuss my theory of how awesome the sticky detonator will be :stuck_out_tongue: Thats a story for another day though… as we forged, more and more people woke up, I mean joined the game, the event got even more lively and full of ideas. We consistently had at least 7-8 people at the event but thankfully when we were testing the map we had 10 people for a great 5v5. We decorated the map and SOME people who will remained unnamed, cough Daedalos42 cough decided to secretly add exploits to the map to advantage him later when we played the map. To be more specific, he hid a man canon really well that elevated him to the top of the map (he wasn’t suppose to be there) where active camo was hidden from the rest of us. Lets just say, he used this in game and thought he was cleaver. :stuck_out_tongue:
>
> After we finished the map, we all felt we did a great job and it turned out being an abandoned factory with a lot of close quarters combat. A center outdoor area we called the green room, and a large room full of crates. The attacking team spawned outside with the bomb and their goal was to infiltrate the factory and plant the bomb at one of the two goals. This task was much harder said than done! With no shields and one life, it was very hard to plant the bomb without teamwork.

> All in all, this first event of mine was both a lot of fun and a big success in my eyes as well as those who showed up. We all had a great time and created an amazing map that was truly loads of fun for everyone. I want to thank everyone for showing up and making this event a blast, and I would like to confirm, there will be another community forge event! It may be later in the day though :stuck_out_tongue:

Hm…I might be interested.

I’m not definite but I might do it.

I’ll make a maybe section and add you there

I might join in.

You do know that there’ll be griefers, right?

Wish I could, but I’ll be in Philadelphia with my parents that whole week, sorry!

griefers…?

People who come merely to mess with other people’s creations.

I’m in, if it’s alright with you I would also like to showcase a couple of my forge maps as well if we have extra time, it might be pretty cool to have a map made by the Waypoint community as a whole.

I’ll add you to the list. Maybe after we are done we can check out a few maps. The main focus will be on forging together.

Double post my bad.

Put me down as a maybe. I am going to be stuck with tons of work next month and i might be able to make it, but its unlikely. This sounds unique and worthwhile, so I will try to do my best to join.

Glad to hear! If this event turns out to be a success I will make sure to hold many more of these in the future!

Why don’t we start brainstorming ideas for a map now, what do you think we should do?

> Why don’t we start brainstorming ideas for a map now, what do you think we should do?

The whole point of it is I have a custom game type in mind, the night of the event, I will release it and all of our minds have to work together to make something together. No planning involved, just working together to make something awesome

Alright, usually I like to know what I’m building beforehand so that the map is something I’m interested in, but whatever, I’m sure it will be fun nonetheless.

I get off at 12 so I might to do it but will also be going to Batman that night i think so right now put me as maybe

16 people? no Forge experience needed?
That’s surely gonna be a big mess XD

Too bad i cannot partecipate,i’m silver at the moment and i cannot speak English fluently yet;it would be irritating for me and for you, sorry.

For starters, I could not tell you aren’t fluent. You type fairly nicely. I say no Forge experience needed because I want everyone to be involved in some way, even if they are just giving ideas and having others forge their ideas. 16 people I thought would make it unique and interesting :stuck_out_tongue: Think if we can work together to make something how much cooler it would be to say that 16 people made this together.

I approve of this idea. Put me down.

I think I will attend this one considering my race night is the next day.

but you have one problem you can only have 8 people in a forge. so it looks like you will either have to have a waiting list or have a co-host for a split lobby
