So, the first thread I made about this was locked, and I was told to go to another thread to post my grievances with the removal of firefight doubles in the August update. However, before anybody replied to any of my points, that thread was also locked, so I’m creating a new one.
Anyway, here are my points about why removing FF doubles makes no sense, going by the reasons they gave for doing it.
"I think their reasons for removing firefight doubles were, to be frank, -Yoink!-. The only reasons I’ve heard are “FF doubles had a low population” and “it would have had slow match times after halo 4 came out”.
I can quite confidently state that if the matching speed is what matters to you, it would have made more sense to remove firefight classic and keep FF doubles. What takes longer? finding one additional player or finding three?
As for a low population, as long as it’s an even number, you’ll always find a match. Since it was the ONLY 2 player online game mode, it was probably at the least risk of being rendered unplayable by not being able to find a match. Furthermore, even when there were no available online matches, you could always invite a friend round to play as a guest.
Furthermore, if the goal was, as stated, to increase the number of players playing the other game modes, then I have to wonder about the intelligence of whoever removed FF doubles. If the population is so freaking low that it needs to be removed, then why would it have any significant impact on any other game modes?
I also feel that, given that the new game, Halo 4, will have not have firefight of any kind, it would have made more sense to remove a playlist that didn’t involve the firefight game mode that many of us have come to love. Why not remove one of the playlists that will be released in Halo 4, so that people who play it regularly will still have the option? Tell me, in which Halo game can I now play FF doubles?
In other words, whoever made the decision to remove firefight doubles was either short on brain cells, or did so for reasons other than the ones they made public. I’ve seen a few people try to defend the decision on the forum already, but none have been able to make anything even resembling a reasonable argument to any of the points I’ve just listed."
