Audio settings/music feedback...

I feel like this should be something to be considered for Halo 4 and beyond…

I have loved all the aspects of the Halo universe ever since I first played Combat Evolved. What always kept me wanting more from Halo wasn’t so much the gameplay, it was the amazing story and music.

To me, the music brings all the elements of Halo together into feelings that words cannot express.

I love the music of Halo 4, so much so that I even purchased the soundtrack. The music really adds to the story, but the problem is that it can barely be heard in Halo 4.

In the previous Halo games, the music was never held back. Its prescence was epic and mighty exclaiming “this is a Halo game, and this music shows just how awesome it is!” That is the way I liked it. The music was at the forefront and never held into submission, like it is now in Halo 4. The music is so quiet that it feels like it’s just something in the background, rather than being part of the experience. To me that undermines Neil Davidge’s beautifully written score to the point where it’s almost as if it were absent.

Having said this, I implore you, 343 to give me and my fellow gamers the ability to change the volume of the music individually, so that the beauty of Halo 4’s music can truly be heard and not be just part of the background, but be at the forefront of the experience.

Completely agree, there were some songs off the soundtrack that were barely heard, and if they were it was very quietly. I was disappointed with the music implementation into the game.

100% agree, Reach allso had this issue.

You could rip the entire halo ost and put it on the xbox and play it while playing halo.

Yes, you are absolutely right. The soundtrack wasn’t properly used in the game. Some long tracks get about 5 seconds of playtime. Some are not used at all. And the volume is often so low that you can’t hear a thing. But what’s worst, the sound quality is absolutely horrible during cutscenes, and sometimes even during gameplay, so that ruins many of the tracks and epic moments. This is something that we’ve been complaining about for three months now, but I don’t think there’s a fix for it yet. It’s a shame that they recorded this stuff at Abbey Road and it sounds like a 64kbps mp3-file in the game. The soundtrack is awesome when listened to as a stand-alone product, though.

Of course, not everyone seems to have these problems with the sound, but many of us do. I think it may have something to do with (not) having a surround sound system. It’s like the game is outputting surround sound, but since I only have stereo headphones, I don’t hear everything that it’s outputting. I dunno this is just random speculation.
