Audio not working

So my game will start out with audio on the loading screens and intros, however, once I click “any button to continue” the audio will cut out about instantly or within a second (The audio makes a weird scratchy noise, almost sounds like someone plugged in an aux cord, then completely stops). I have no idea why the audio cuts out and stops working, but clearly that’s why I’m also here. I am using AirPods on my PC but this has never been an issue before, and I’ve looked into the audio settings in the game, and nothing has seemed to work either. All the other applications, websites, and games on my computer work fine, its only Halo Wars 2 that doesn’t want to work. I did get this game of the Microsoft store because it linked up with my Xbox and I could get it free on PC, however, I don’t believe that’s part of the problem because other games from the Microsoft store seem to work fine. (e.g. Forza, Ark, Minecraft). I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to why this happens, I’d have to imagine there’s no sound driver issue because again it’s ONLY this game so. Anyways I’d appreciate the help and thank you for taking the time to read this and for your time and efforts with helping me with this.

Well to my surprise I seemed to have fixed the issue rather quickly, lol. So what I found, which might just be an AirPods issue. It’s when I start the game, the game tries to turn on the mic on my AirPods and stops sending the AirPods the game audio but only my mic audio, which of course is silent, no playback. The best way I found to resolve this issue its to go to the bottom right on the taskbar and right-click on the microphone (or go to microphone privacy settings). Once you do that you should be able to see the option “allow apps to access your microphone”. Once there you can either turn it off in general or not allow Halo Wars 2 to access your mic. Again Halo Wars 2 has been the only game giving me this issue, so I would suggest just turning it off for Halo Wars 2(those with this issue or those using AirPods). Thank you to anyone reading this and to anyone seeing similar issues, I hope this helps. If this didn’t help you I’ve seen many things involving updating sound drivers that I’d recommend you take a look at.
