Audio customization in Halo 5

For some reason every first person halo we’ve had (Wars and SA actually had decent audio settings) has an awfully small amount of settings to change around and in a subcategory of that is audio settings. I personally think at this day and age (especially now we are on the next generation of consoles) that every AAA game should have a great amount of audio settings to change ranging from music to voice chat.

In Halo 5 I think there should be two categories of sound settings; one in the start menu and one in custom game-type options.

The first category would just be more typical, standard options with party volume, master volume, music volume and not as necessary, but it would be cool to have cutscene dialogue volume as well. I would also hope that instead of just having simple things like mute, quiet, medium, loud, it would have a full 0-100 dial so you can fine tune each audio setting just to your liking. This would mean you would no longer not be able to hear a friend talking over loud explosions or flood noises in-game (these are specific problem I have often). with the party chat volume you would also have the ability to just mute the enemy team if this was ever a problem.

The next section would be a lot more interesting and unique to use and that’s custom game-type audio settings. I’m sure lots of you have heard about the dilemma of proximity voice chat and whether it should be replace the normal team chat. Instead of having to choose one over the other for the entire game, what if you could have options to change it on the game-type? This would mean for more serious competitive matches you could have it on team chat and for more casual infection matches you could have it on proximity or FFA chat. In the custom game-type audio settings you could also choose whether to have the multiplayer soundtracks on or off (for example near the end of a match, once you have capped a flag or if you’re last man standing).

These are just some of the ideas I can think of to make Halo 5’s audio settings better, but if you have any more different ideas or want to give feedback please post below.

Couldn’t agree more. Black Ops 2 nailed the type of audio settings that players need.

Voice, Music, SFX, Master and CODCaster options too

Yea it would be great to get those option in Halo 5, it would help both the casual and competitive a lot.

Proximity voice in Halo 5 would vastly improve both custom games and possibly Matchmaking, depending on if they used it.
