Attrition Is Awesome!

I have got to admit, there are positive things happening in the world of Halo Infinite despite its obvious problems (desync, monetization, lacking content, cheating, poor customization). I still love the core of Infinites gameplay the most since Halo CE, even more than Halo 2 and 3. For no good reason, Halo 2 and Halo 3 are only better because they both had features that Infinite, for no good reason, didn’t launch with. They are better and have far more content. But this is starting to change!

Attrition is one example of a positive change. This mode should be renamed the true “Tactical Slayer” and the Tactical Slayer should be renamed to “SWAT,” because attrition is 1000% the most tactical mode in this game. It’s not just running and gunning; you can afford to make very few mistakes before you meet defeat, and the final moments where both players lose their respawn ability have created the most intense moments yet in matchmaking.

I had a recent attrition match on Behemoth where we were sucking hard at first. The enemy team had eight lives, and we had no respawn lives left. It looked grim as they cornered us by the snipe tower. However, all our respawnable teammates were near each other. One by one, our allies respawned us, and we took them down systemically. Our positioning was the stuff of legends and myths. It was a truly surreal and badass game that I intend to upload because it shows Halo Infinites potential in ways not shown before. Basically, we beat them when they had 8 lives and we were all on our last respawns because we kept reviving each other and singling out their numbers until they were overwhelmed.

Where you die in attrition is as important as the number of lives you have on a team. It’s an objective slayer where every single movement and weapon, every callout and position matters. I’m dying to see Attrition become a standalone playlist (preferrably ranked) because it is the most fun I’ve had in a very long time. If this is a sign of infinite modes to come, I’m excited as hell! I want to see Fiesta Attrition, CTF Attrition, Oddball Attrition, this one mode has TONS of potential!

I’d like to see ranked attrition and other modes with attrition lives settings too.
It has the potential to stop people from playing as if it was a solo-slayer match and actually working in teams.

Attrition is what you get when you’ve completely ran out of ideas.

Attrition is a little too much on the competitive side for my casual-loving preferences, but I can see why people would like it and it should probably find a spot in Ranked somewhere as well as Social.

I like it and loathe it. I feel it highlights issues with the game more than any other mode. Like if you have unbalanced teams, AFK players, or are spawn trapped it just lends to a hard game.

I’ve had more fun in attrition than any other game mode since infinites release. Really exciting. Last second revives for a win or a full steamroll of an enemy team is so exhilarating

I wish they would have added a more unique mode. Like either something completely new or something classic like king of the hill. Instead of Team Slayer with 8 lives and revives

I love attrition, fast games so even if you are getting slaughtered it isn’t dragged out. Lots of fun, makes for good team play. I can’t believe they didn’t think of this sooner.

I HOPE IT BECOMES A PERMANENT PLAYLIST.
