Itis a simple rule you should follow, if you cant guarantee atleast 5+ kills before you die…or you cant guarantee no more than two shots per kill…DO NOT TOUCH THE SNIPER RIFLE!!! Ugh, I cant stand people who grab it up and unload a whole clip on one kill especially when I know I can atleast get 3 if not four. WHY DO PEOPLE WHO SUCK WITH THE SNIPER PICK IT UP???
> I do it intentionally to annoy people like you who think the Sniper Rifle has their name on it.
^This…After all, did you even think for a second that perhaps some of the people want to perhaps get better at it?I know they could do get some of the forge maps, but shooting at boxes, golf balls, cones, etc is not the same as shootig at your enemy…
If you want to get better, go to team sniper where you dont have to rage after one and then use up the power weapon before someone who can really use it gets to it. I mean, really…4 shots to take someone down is crazy if you have the sniper. The sniper is a patience weapon, you find target, take aim, and fire. “One shot, One kill” Thats the Army Sniper Academy motto. All I am saying, is that if you know your bad with it…dont pick it up.
Because they’re bad at getting up close and personal and want to boost their K/D so they cower with a Sniper where they have no risk. This is especially prevelant in BTB games on Hemmorhage.
> If you unload a whole clip for one kill, then it certainly dont have yours on it.
I know it doesn’t have my name on it, I didn’t claim it did, but people like you who think that people who suck with it should never use it just irritates me.
People like to practise their aim, whether is be online, or offline, you can’t stop them from doing that.

Because then they will be flamed in the manner of WHY DO PEOPLE WHO CANT SNIPE PLAY TEAM SNIPERS?!?!?!?

Personally I love the sniper rifle. Am I amazing with it? No. am I terrible with it? Nada. I have my good times and bad times. I can snipe unmoving targets pretty well, but once they are moving it will take me atleast a whole clip. Then again I’m a n00b to the halo universe so there is room to improvement. My point: I like to have the sniper rifle and take my chances because it is a game. it is fun. Sure I’ll get bombarded with messages afterwards saying how bad I suck, but who cares!

I don’t think this particular generalization is inaccurate. The fact is that the only person who can kill the sniper on Hemorrhage is the other sniper. (If your teammates have even a little skill to draw vehicle fire. Greater than 95% of the time, the Sniper goes to one of the three places. The rock near the water on, the tree behind the base near the shield wall, or Jetpack up to the rock shelf above the tree. From these positions, the Sniper can hit just about anything on the board without being in danger of being killed. This has been realized by players, and when I play BTB, nearly invariably the guy who had the highest K/D on my team grabs the Sniper and heads to one of these three locations. I don’t know about the use of the term “cower” but to say that the Sniper users on Hemorrhage aren’t trying to pad their stats is being disingenuous.
TL;DR - Stereotypes exist for a reason.
EDIT: OP what is it you want? The Matchmaking forum is for suggestions about how to change the playlists to better match the desires of the Halo fan base. This just seems to be a rant. Better belongs in the Halo: Reach forum as it’s game-specific.

I meant in Reach as a whole, his post expressed that stereotype for general sniper usage. Talking about BTB on its own, I agree it is basically a stat padding weapon. In small team games, though, a Sniper does not necessarily have to hide in corners to use the weapon effectively.

Very true. I’ve rarely seen the Sniper-camping on other maps that you see on Hemorrhage. I’m of the opinion that Hemorrhage is extremely poorly thought out given that the initial design was to replicate a Halo 3 map, but the players move far differently in Reach than they did in Halo 3. I took the comment to mean that he was using Hemorrhage as the exact example and where if it comes up in vote, almost everyone votes for it so therefore it gets used for Snipe-camper’s delight. (Which is also true. I plead with groups to choose any map but Hemorrhage when it comes up. The Heavy gametype has cut down on Hemorrhage’s use in BTB, but for months it was the only map people would choose [ahh, the old & familiar because it’s old & familiar, but not necessarily good!].)
I’m not the best with the Sniper, but I’m good enough, and I’ll use it when nobody else takes it, but I hate people who think the Sniper is theirs. It’s not your Sniper if someone takes it before you.
Also, some people aren’t great with the Sniper, but they’re even worse when everyone has one. That’s why I hate Team Snipers. It’s also not really the best practice because it only teaches you how to snipe other people with Snipers and not other weapons (such as the DMR).

Yeah it’s a lot harder to shoot someone who is shooting you as it requires you to no-scope or quick scope, but team snipers is definitely the way to learn how to effectively use the sniper in terms of aiming.
