Im constantly getting hate mail every time i attack someone and they always call me a rusher…
If you guys wanna spend 25 minutes upgrading every unit possible then go play stronghold or a private game.

Yeah, what most people are calling rushes are actually just timing attacks, usually built around either a population marker or a tech completion marker. They can still suck, but they’re not rushes.
Rushes in this game have units at your base at the 2-3 minute mark, and aren’t usually big enough to wipe out your base unless they’re all in, or you’ve built literally nothing. Anders sentinel spam is not a rush. Cutters 80 pop marine army isn’t a rush. Forges jackrabbits, well, forge IS a rush, He hits you at around the 3 minute mark with a 20 pop army, and is one of the most powerful rushes in the game. Or, was I should say. If they have time to max out before attacking you? it’s not a rush. That’s a timing attack.
rush is control of economy. nothing more
This thread is so true! This is why scouting is so important. You can see someone preparing a 80 pop marine attack, you can see Anders preparing for sentinel spam.
I feel like the vast majority of this community needs to learn the importance of scouting and changing your build to counter what you see.

I think what he means is that rushing will rarely give you a quick win, but rather it’ll allow you to control the map (power nodes) thus helping your economy.

Like the guy who quoted you said, it gives you time to obtain map control. Another thing that a successful rush can do is throw off an entire teams economy and essentially end the game within the first 6 minutes(be it 2v2 or 3v3).
Just today, I had a game against a Cutter/Forge/Anders. While scouting them, I saw that Forge was going grizzly, Cutter infantry and Anders Sentinels (the standard sentinel build is 4 supply pads and 1 generator. As soon as you see the build, RUSH!! I mass banshees as Shipmaster. Marines will work just fine as UNSC)so I rushed Anders at the 5:10 mark and managed to wipe out her main base after her second was already built.
My ONE rush threw Anders off so badly that she wasn’t able to attack for another 5 minutes and by the time she came, my allies had already built Wolverines so her Sentinels were useless. I pretty much saved my teams -Yoink- from mass sentinels/early hogs by rushing. The game wound up going for another 20 minutes with Anders being MIA because he had to switch up his strategy. That’s another thing that rushing does. It exposes the players who lack skill/don’t have enough experience to go to plan B when plan A falls through.

sounds like a pretty terrible anders tbh, if at the 5 minute mark she didn’t have units out and wasn’t scouting herself.

Yeah well, I guess most people don’t have the experience to differentiate these terms. Someone who flames people for rushing probably ain’t too much of a strategy lover either. I would’ve never learned these things if I hadn’t played and watched Starcraft.

No she had 10 Sentinels out by the time I got there and was already double pumping from 2 bases. He probably only would’ve needed an extra 45 seconds of prep.

Why are they calling you a rusher as a derogatory term? Like, in the first place, Rushing is an extremely deadly tactic, but you shouldn’t be insulted for it jeez! I take it as a way of improving my gameplay, Rushing is ok, if I got rushed, it meant I should up the anti!
Might I ask though, what army do you march over there at the 7 minute mark?
