Spoilers from the new HW2 trailer! In the trailer we see Atriox’s backstory where he is about to be executed by a red sword wielding elite. He survives and holds up the red sword in victory. I believe he takes this sword and uses it along with his discarded energy hammer and combines them to make his energy mace. This having a unique weapon AND a symbol of anti-opression. What better symbol can one make than to take your symbol of enslavement, your chain and turn it into a whip!
Very nice theory. We’ll have to see if that’s correct once the game comes out.

Thats a really great theory. I’ll watch the trailer again and see if I have any theories!
That’s exactly what I had come up with as well, I’m glad to see that we think alike! The red energy sword in that trailer definitely isn’t meaningless, so having it be a part of his new hammer/mace makes sense!
