Atriox invincibility mechanic is OP

I can’t be the only one who feels helpless against this leader power whenever you are in the late game. All the units don’t die, and he ends up killing all of yours even if you have the appropriate counters.

I suggest making the cooldown longer. Or decreasing the amount of time the ability is in action. It’s ridiculous. I no longer see anders anymore as a Plathnum 5, but all I see now is atriox. By all means he’s beatable, but when you get into late game he becomes very very hard to stop. So much so that me and my teammate have to double team him.

I have to say that I expected Atriox to become the main leader after this last patch, but his Bulwark wouldn’t be what I would point out personally. It’s definitely very strong, but that’s why I would like all leaders to have some sort of similar technique, to counter the leader powers, instead of removing Atriox’s ability.

Yeah it’s weird to me. Sometimes I feel like it’s the most overlooked thing that’s OP and other times I feel like it needs to be better. I think the problem is that I have no idea on how to change it to make it seem fair at all times. Making the cool down longer like you said sounds about right or at least the right direction.

It’s not just bulwark. Undying Breath also makes units live beyond death temporarily.

But the ability only lasts a few seconds… Honestly just get your army out of there when he uses it. That is the current counter that works decently.

True

Although in my experience, I’ve not had much trouble with it. It only lasts a few seconds, so if need be you can pull back and then push again when the effect wears off. Which is easier when you’re on offense of course. You can’t really pull back if you’re defending from an attack. So it’s a catch 22.

Invincibility shouldn’t even be part of an RTS in the first place. That, and the displacement ability (which is much more broken).

Yes you can pull your army out while on defense :expressionless:

It’s not ideal but it is the best you can do against leader abilities.

Depends on the map I suppose. Some of them literally wedge your bases between 3 walls.

Right. That is true.

Aaaand that’s why there should be a D. Bomb…

I main atriox and I don’t think that ability is OP at all. I mean it is worth 1600, that’salmost half a scarab!

Even in mirror matches when the enemy uses it I have to pull back and never spam your leader powers when against unbreakable. For me it is similar to CAS you can either stay and die or leave and fight another day.

The Bulwark is what makes Atriox Atriox. Take that away, and the Banished become that much more unviable. To be effective, it require skillful execution. If you waste it to win a fight over a power node or something, you won’t be able to stop the archer missiles later when it’s still regenerating. That’s something people overlook. The regen time is quite long.

Once again, take away the Bulwark, and Atriox becomes obsolete.

Well, Warcraft 3 would disagree…or many of the popular games that practically founded modern RTS games.

That doesn’t make it alright or justifiable. They’re both crutch abilities with absolutely no counter.

Define “crutch ability.”

Also, the Bulwark is itself a counter. You want a counter-counter?

An ability that’s basically a “get out of jail free card”. There’s zero risk in using it and I can’t avoid it or stop it. If by counter-counter you mean disruption bomb, then yes… I’ve wanted once since launch.

Just move your units out of the way…

My favorite is teleporting my entire army out of an atriox eradication as shipmaster. It frustrates sooooo many people. But is sooooooo good. Especially if I’m teleporting them all to go heal instead of just moving them. All of my army survives + they are at full health when I return which I do instantaneously.

I haven’t encountered this yet so I can’t say for sure but I’ll try this in skirmish or something.
