So I have been thinking a good bit about the spirit assault leader power that atriox and decimus both can feild. I am sure that there have been many before that have thought that the leader power is quite abysmal, but I can’t recall anyone putting forth anything constructive to help.
To refresh everyone on the tiers (since I am willing to bet nobody upgrades the leader power)
Spirit Assault 1: 2 Suicide Grunts
2: 2 vet Suicide Grunts+vet#? jpb
3: 2 vet Suicide Grunts+2 vet3 jpbs
What a joke.
I have a few options that I think would at least contend with bulwark/beam so it comes down to preference.
I don’t expect much traction, but I know its doable given all of the balance changes that have happened to shipmasters drop and raid leader points being condensed to two tiers. Given that the only other leaders with an option of a drop at leaderpoint three is colony and cutter and kinsano, this would serve as a far better counter to the buiding killers at leaderpoint 3 and something decently offensive at point 4.
I agree that they are largely useless powers outside of some very extreme circumstances. I like the idea of adding some veteran Grunts to the mix. I’m not sure how I feel about the Chopper since I don’t think it would serve much of a purpose, but it’s still more than it offers now.
I do really agree spirit drop is weak aside from ships, which further could use small nerfs such as vet. Anyhow, these drops for 3 lps is pathetic but i do occationally get it t teir 3 if im against someone bad where i dont need glass or when i play extremely aggressive while against heavy infantry on select leaders. I would not mind though if 3 point was moved to two for viability as i would miss the vet 3 jumpies over your option.

My conversion from my word doc wasn’t so awesome and looks clunky, but I tried to keep the jump pack brutes and the player gets both at tier 2 and just knock their veterancy your down to 2 instead of 3. Basically I was thinking that if you are going to spend a leader point in a drop again you should get a pretty significant improvement. I was half inclined to throw a maurader in addition to tier 2 and call it good, but I wanted to see what people thought first.
I usually only get the first tier on the off chance that I need two extra suicide grunts if I really need some more troops quickly. Otherwise, I never go oast tier one unless I have every other leader power maxed out

I agree. The first point is situationally useful with Atriox. Usually you want to get something like Bulwark but there’s times where dropping in two suis can win you engagements in the early/mid game.
my problem with Decimus is that you get it the same point you unlock Glassing Beam. I don’t see any reason to take it over Beam. So with Atriox it’s situationally useful but with Decimus I’d rather just get Beam.
