Atriox and Banished: Ally or Enemy in Halo 6?

In the next few months, we’re gonna be introduced to a new character and faction. November 29th (got pushed back from October 25th) will introduce us to Atriox (and presumedly the Banished) in Tales from Slipspace: Hunting Party. They’re gonna play a big role in Halo Wars 2, as the primary antagonist(s). However, I think 343 is going to have a role for Atriox and his group for more than just one spin-off and one story in an anthology. I heavily believe that Atriox and the Banished will have a role to play in Halo 6. I’m under the impression that Cutter and Atriox will side together once they learn of Cortana and realize they can’t fight her alone. I believe they will escape the Ark, and meet up with John and the others. What do you think, will Atriox and the Banished be an ally or enemy in Halo 6?

I agree with you, I think they’ll start as enemies, but end up working together to defeat the larger threat, kind of like in Halo 3 where you allied with the Flood to stop Truth from firing the rings. Afterwards… it’s tough to say whether they’d be enemies or not. We don’t really know where they stand regarding their opinions on humanity.

It’s hard to say,I think his lieutenant decimus will get killed in hw2 and maybe atriox and let volir become our allies

Hmmmm interesting. I hope we get scenes with Atriox, Let, and Decimus. Would be interesting.

Or a fight between volir and decimus, decimus didn’t like how brutes were treated by elites in the covenant

Definitely Enemy

I will give him a try,but if he betray me I will pump lead into his body until it explode.

A bit of both I think. The current galaxy is in a chaos and depending of the situation we might cooperate or fight each other. They should keep situation unstable and good/bad division blurred.

I would like to see them as allies. I think it would be an excellent change of pace to actually work alongside The Brutes. If done correctly, it would be an interesting narative.

Just because they are Brutes does not mean they are incapable of respecting Humans. Army Commander, for example, had respect for Humanity.

Given the state of the Galaxy, with The Created running around, I would hope that we would see a necessary cooperation turn into a long standing alliance.

I agree.

They didn’t ally with UNSC against Covenant, they probably won’t ally now against Created.

I had the exact same feeling about him.

Well the devs called him “a complex character”, and he is a brilliant strategist, it’s more than likely he’ll side with the UNSC through Cutter and Spirit of Fire by the end of Wars 2. Also, the DLC promised “a new campaign expansion with exclusive missions”, right? Maybe a campaign with joint missions against the Created or even the Flood?

BTW, kind of off-topic here, but does anyone else get the feeling one of the “new Leaders” promised in the Season Pass will be…

Rion from Halo Fractures’ story “Into the Fire”? You know, her being Forge’s daughter and all that?

WrongerFir87 is 100% for right.
Guys think about it! 343 gonna create a new villain, an enemy the Halo Universe never seen before. From what we have seen he’s going to be one of the greatest villian ever, a really powerful, good at tactic and that’s what Halo needs. And last but not least we won’t consider the Brutes like stupid apes anymore, 'cuz Atriox is very badass.
Now, why would he become an ally, when he could be an enemy, a prey of Locke? Wouldn’t be cool to waste such a great character in the first 2 minutes of the first cutscenes of Halo 6, where Locke take Atriox down in under half a minute?
Yeah, it could be a huge waste but after Jul 'Mdama…

even though it would be cool to have them as an ally id prefer to shoot at some brutes

The Elite didn’t ally with Humanity against The Flood on Halo 04. This fact did not stop the two sides from joining forces against Truth.

Besides, The Banished were not even a thought when Halo 1, 2, and 3 were being designed. So, this can be overlooked.

If you really need a canon explanation, I am sure there are several very good reasons why The Banished did not openly join forces with The UNSC against The Covenant. Perhaps such a strategy would have proven far too dangerous. From what we know, The Banished were a resistance group / splinter cell. An open alliance with Humanity may have elevated their threat beyond what was deemed acceptable. The Banished may have chosen to keep a lower profile in order to actually build up and establish themselves as a power.

Remember, this group believes in free will and self-determination / freedom from control. That very mantra sets them up to resist The Created’s vision of a Galactic nanny state that controls everything.

Eh, if they did ever ally, I would assume it would be more of the whole “enemy of my enemy” kind of deal. And even if they did, they would probably go back to normal, once the situation is resolved.

What do you mean “go back to normal”?

I guess you think that all Brutes are just violent warmongers, hmm?

Yeppers!!! Except for Lydus, but even eh was a bit of a lose cannon. What can I say, I guess I am stereotyping…XD

As much as I would like to see the Jiralhanae portrayed in a more positive light, I do want to see a change in the “let’s join up against he baddies an drew become best friends” sort of approach as seen with humanity (in general) and the Sangheili under the Swords of Sanghelios. One intesting approach 343 could take is to have the crew of the Spirit of Fire join the Banished as opposed to a mutual alliance like the relationship between the SoS and the UEG. We’ve seen in stories such as Hunting Party and Last Light that the Jiralhanae have no qualms in inducting former enemies into their ranks, in the former case Atriox was perfectly fine with having Sangheili Assassins sent to kill him to join him, and in the latter case the Keepers of the One Freedom are content with the idea of having humans in their ranks. This way the Banished can still serve as a wildcard factor in future Halo media, being neither explicitly an ally nor an enemy, as well as leaving some narrative potential for the Banished.

It also serves as a cool way to give Red Team badass looking armour with a red coating and spikes.
