No one was lied to. They promised you DLC and a campaign . You received both. They went and made another campaign to extend the game and your upset you didn’t get the better campaign?! Lol

What say you then, to those who pre-ordered the ultimate edition (under the guise that the included season pass would include all DLC for the next 6 months) but now there exists a Complete Edition for less than the ultimate edition AND includes ATN. Complete edition is currently ~23% less than what I paid for the ultimate edition in my region.

You had the Ultimate for 7 months longer than anyone who purchased the Complete Edition. Thats where the value came from

I know I know I know, but time is never the essence for me sometimes! Believe me, it was nice to get the game a few days before launch, but that’s hardly ever a selling point I’d attribute more money for.
I’m only to assume that’s why they just throw it in, instead of actually charging more because of that.
The fact of the matter is, if something is $9 but I can also pay $10 to play a few days before launch, I’m going to pick $9 cause that’s just me!
I’m always looking to save, but for instant shut-up-and-take-my-money moments like Halo Wars 2’s Ultimate Edition, it’s a detrimental ID state of mind I hold against myself, but also a cheeky piece of marketing I’d hate to hold against 343 for in the case of this!
I’m not sure if time is the best solution, but of course, that example only applies to me, because I’d like to save where I can.
I will end this with; I hoped to save money with the Ultimate Edition, and the fact that I couldn’t and for the reason why this thread exists in the first place, I’m just a little frustrated.

Sorry but the early game access wasn’t what I was talking about. It’s the value of the Ultimate over the Complete. If you purchased the Ultimate Edition at release you got to play it 7 months earlier than if you waited for the Complete Edition. That’s where the value comes in.

I know and that’s what I was talking about! It’s just the advantage difference being time is something I personally don’t believe in.
Don’t get me wrong, having the Season’s Pass early 7 months is great, I’m just still a little skeptical at the idea of it making a cut of the price difference worth it’s bargain.
What was the complete edition, $60? That’s $60 for everything, the leaders, the campaign expansions, that’s pretty big!
The price difference I would think is 20, from 60 to 80, and it goes down from what America paid, being $100 for the Ultimate, and the excluded ATN.
I think we’re only frustrated that the money difference is about $40, and that advantage is the fact that we got it early 7 months.
Mind you, I’m from the side that says time doesn’t matter, but I could imagine people wanting it early would’ve wanted that!
The problem is, this complete edition wasn’t offered at launch, so when our 100 is brought down to 60, because they finished the game, and are only now giving the discount we’ve always wanted it,

I know I just proved you right, but I can’t help but think that this was the discount they came up with for ATN, trying to make it up by selling a game we already had, at a cheaper price, clearly aimed at people who haven’t bought the game yet.

You also got halo wars DE which is a 19.99 value. Access to the beta, and was able to play the game early if my memory serves me right? Bottom line is every franchise charges 99.99 for all DLC .
If you have love for the game then you clearly see you got what you paid for. I don’t feel let down by 343 and any marketing ploys. I don’t agree with everything in the game but that’s a topic for another thread .

The fact that it was my hard earned money is why I’m upset. I’d imply that maybe it’s everybody who isn’t upset that leeches off their parents, but I don’t want to make the same childish argument you just did. This post should make us all sick.
Firstly, this is a Red Herring Fallacy. What MS does with the XBL service subscriptions has no connection to what 343i does with Halo Wars 2 DLC and Season Passes.
Secondly, that’s just not true. Their servers are computers, and as all of us here right now know, computers don’t run on magic. So right off the bat we understand it costs money to run because it costs money for electricity. Then there’s maintenance costs. Paying engineers to fix hardware and software issues. And again, being computers they tend to break down after so many years, so then they have to pay to replace those components.
Even more to that point is that not all of our subscription goes straight to having the internet fairy handing out games. Some of that goes to the xbox engineers who improve our OS, and our dashboard updates, and our free Backwards Compatibility updates.
The service is free on PC because PC users refuse to pay to play online. PSN was free because their initial service wasn’t worth money. It was far behind XBL and Sony knew it, and they didn’t know if people would pay for a service. It only caught up after 4-5 years, and they tested the online service model with PSN Plus, which happened to be very popular. At that point they realised they could start charging for online play, just not midway through a generation. Sony dropped a lot of money to compete the way they did, and they did it with no way to recoup that money. They knew that it would be absurd trying to keep the service free would mean MS would have the advantage in features and quality. Because online services cost money.

It was far behind XBL and Sony knew it, and they didn’t know if people would pay for a service. It only caught up after 4-5 years, and they tested the online service model with PSN Plus, which happened to be very popular. At that point they realised they could start charging for online play, just not midway through a generation. Sony dropped a lot of money to compete the way they did, and they did it with no way to recoup that money. They knew that it would be absurd trying to keep the service free would mean MS would have the advantage in features and quality. Because online services cost money.

hmmmm and these same engineers that maintain these servers, that could both SELL and be used for decictadd servers , are the companies expenses? No it’s the sense of entitlement that disgusts me. You weren’t tricked by 343 so stop the lies. They clearly stated they would give DLC and an addition campaign. That’s what they did. Then they released ATN which is great for the game and franchise and but you feel it’s the better campaign so you deserve it?! Name another company/franchise that gave as much content as 343i did for 79.99?

Im a huge fan of halo, halo wars and Microsoft. I have purchased every halo game and every new console Microsoft offered just to watch them drop the price in half, in a months time. I love to get things on launch day, so should I cry for my money back ? I did not insult others specifically I was just pointing out facts and just because YOU are sensitive doesn’t mean YOU have to feel bullied. Turns 10’s VIP description was extremely misleading if not lying, mass refunds and criticism forced them to revert the change. The Ultimate Editions of Forza Horizon 3 and Forza Motorsport 7 don’t even give all DLC.
The Halo Wars 2 season pass has provided what it said it would. Calling a game an “Ultimate Edition” would give the impression that all content will be provided and that’s why companies use the term.
While I think companies aren’t always transparent, the consumer can also be at blame. If a game is broke at launch and you’ve pre ordered, it’s not entirely the company’s fault. If you bought the season pass or Ultimate Edition just for the expansion, you probably should have waited until the expansion was released.
Including Halo Wars DE early access as a pre order bonus was a dirty trick to entice people into buying the Ultimate Edition early. Pre order bonuses and day one DLC shouldn’t exist but if people keep buying them they won’t go anywhere.
